South Branch 10/18

Postby Castaway on October 18th, 2017, 7:14 pm

Stopped at a nice hole on the south branch today on my way home from work this morning. I only had 45 minutes to fish. I fished from 745 to 830. Started out with a pin’s minnow. Very first cast I landed a nice brown. First one I caught this year. Fished the minnow for another 10 minutes without a bite. Switched over to a spinner and landed a nice rainbow. Fished that for another 15 minutes with only one more bite. Switched over to salmon eggs for the last 15 minutes and managed two nice rainbows before I had to pack it in. Not bad for a 45 minute trip. I was surprised nobody else was fishing that stretch this morning.

In my travels around I have seen very few anglers fishing since the first weekend after stocking. It has been tough for most people with the low, clear water and bluebird skies - but the fish are there.
