Rockaway Creek Tributary

So were doing an estate sale in Whitehouse Station and across from the home is a small stream and on the map it shows it feeds into the Rockaway Creek , this stream is on the east bound side of rt. 22 near the DAR cemetary......anyone ever fish it or know any info ??........

The Rockaway runs under Rt 22 near The Kings market light in Whitehouse. Wild Browns upstream, but I've never heard of any tribs or fishing south of 22, if that's the area you are referring to.

I guess its the Rockaway since its close to the Kings.....

I believe it's actually the S.B. Rockaway you're referring to. Originates from a controlled release from RVR since the construction of the res cut off the headwaters of the creek.

Was working there yesterday afternoon and checked out the water....tons of clams probably most Ive ever seen....Ill be back so Ill let you know what happens when I fish it....

Small, white clams? If so, they are Asiatic clams, a foreign invader and unwanted. Otherwise, you saw freshwater mussels which are much larger and darker (browns and dark greens). Mostly wild browns as others mentioned.

Gazillions of small white clams......I would think mussels and clams are indicators of clean water ???

Mussels yes, Asiatic clams no. Freshwater mussels are key indicator species and have been largely on the decline everywhere they are found. They are highly intolerant to pollution of all types.

Katie and I fished it yesterday for about 45 minutes.....nothing zilch nada......didnt even see anything alive in the water......it was very low.......did see one rather large mussel shell and tons of clam shells.....fished around the rt 22 bridge and went downstream.....fished spinners and worms.....

Ive fished that creak alot over yhe past 10 years or so...Its best to fish after a rain. Ive gone there with weater like this and not a hit..Then fish after a rain and land 8 or nine wild Browns out of the same spots...
