Re: Found Fly Rod

Nice of you to post the find, hopefully the owner frequents this forum. Any fish? Got the big ole skunk. I think I should have downsized my flies. Yep go small 22 to 18 this time of year nymphing. Egg patterns produce well in the Winter months. I feel like my trout game has gone down hill. I've bee...

On my Android phone I use the free versions of River Level and Flow Alert. Simple apps to use but gives me all the info I need.

Re: Who here center pins ?

Not me, saw too many guys doing this while steelhead fishing and was completely turned off to it. Pinning to get a 100 yard drift while others are trying to fish just seems rude to me. The pinners didn't seem to care if you were there fly fishing or spin fishing below them.

I am using the Korkers Terror Ridge boots and they are holding up really well and are super comfortable.

I went back a few more evenings and this time all they wanted was the dry fly until after dark, then it was game on swinging a small streamer.

Fishing Emergers Question

I had a few free hours this week so I was able to hit one of my local rivers and found myself in an insane sulfur hatch just before dark. Trout were rising all around me so I tied on a dry that I thought matched the hatch but I was unable to get any to eat. I also saw some spinners on the water so I...

Re: recommendation on a GREAT pair of wading boots

I purchased my first pair of Korkers last year and really like them. I got the Terror Ridge series with a couple of different soles. They are by far the best boot I have ever had.

Re: First trip of new year

Nice job! I hit a small stream Sunday but only had 1 hook up and lost that one when it got into a log jam. I did manage to hook just about every over hanging tree on the river!

I hate to see it when undeveloped land bordering any sort of water gets slated for development.

Re: Gearing Up for Fishing

Am I making things hard on myself? I seem to be the only fisherman that I see assembling his fly rod and stringing it where he parks by the river. Especially in winter conditions, it seems that anything you can do to speed-up getting into the water and at-it fishing is a good thing. Yeah, I've seen...

There are two that I order from.
Ascent fly Fishing

Big Y Fly Co.
https://www.bigyflyco.com/

Both offer good quality flies at reasonable prices.

I've used Mossy Creek Fly Fishing guides in Harrisonburg, VA. Not sure how close they are to where you are going to be fishing but they are great.

I actually put one up by Flatbrook. See my IG post https://www.instagram.com/p/B-HaYr3Axzu/

The last time I was up there someone had had added a few nymphs and my Woolly Bugger was gone.

Pretty cool concept.

I have been wanting to hit the Raritan myself but just haven't had the time. Looks like you had some great success, small mouth on a fly rod are so much fun.

I'm going to have to make it a point to get out there soon.

Re: Barbless Regulations and Their Pointlessness

I've seen way too many fishermen on the river (both fly and spin guys) struggle to get the hook out of the fish they just landed. I feel that the faster the hook can be removed the better, especially with everyone taking longer to release each fish because they need their grip and grin photo.
