Re: nj brookies... ever again?

Personally, I get bored catching only 10" rainbows. It has even affected how many trips for trout I take in a season. I'm not even sure those in charge will even care since I will still buy a fishing license.

Nice pics. Heading up this weekend.
Good luck! The steelhead seemed to want natural colors this year. I was catching them on a 10 mm orange egg bead. Tight Lines!!!
Thanks for the tip. I got plenty of beads!!

Re: Shenandoah mountains of Virginia/Catoctin mountains of Maryland

Welcome back to the states!. I haven't fished the Shenandoah streams in decades but to be honest, there is no place I'd rather be at the beginning of May than fishing for Brookies in a SNP stream! Fall can be tough, depending on the weather and water.

Musky report 10/14

Fished the lower Musky yesterday. It was a beautiful mid-fall day and the river wasn't too crowded. I was part of the crew that helped with the fall stocking so I had some good intel. I caught a few fish in all the places I fished but the leaf hatch built as the wind picked up and became an issue la...

Re: Anyone Been Up to the Catskills?

I was up last week fishing on the upper Beaverkill. Although it was high it was still fishable with some split shot. I would concentrate on the upper sections of the rivers. That's where you're likely to find some fishable water.

Planning on going out to Little Swartswood with friends on Sunday. They have an Ice Fishing Contest if anyone else is interested here is the link https://www.facebook.com/events/369021216904227/ The little lake had 8" before the deep freeze and the big lake has 5 1/2"

Keep adding split shot until you are hanging up. Sometimes the difference between a good or bad day is one split shot!

Re: South branch fishable flows?

Personally, 250 cfs starts to be high for me but it doesn't mean you shouldn't try it. The good thing about the South Branch is it rises and lowers quicker than all the other streams in the area. The bad thing is it discolors quickly and takes a while to clear up but you can adjust techniques techni...

Re: Proper Catch & Release

This is one of my pet peeves. I think the internet has killed way more Trout than 3 treble hooks on a jerk bait ever could. I see card carrying Trout Unlimited members taking pictures of fish laying on rocks or up in the grass. That Trout is dead, but they're saintly catch and release fishermen. The...
