Re: Hoffman's Crossing Bridge
Was a major stocking point, if it's all posted up I'd assume the state will cease stocking it there. They shouldn't be stocking publicly funded fish into what's now a private access fishing spot.
Totally agree, and again, if its private property and then becomes posted, we have to ...

Re: Hoffman's Crossing Bridge
Not faulting the property owner here, got to do what you got to do, but isnt that spot a state stocking point? and please correct me if I'm wrong, but was the state stocking points on private property brought up a few years back and basically if the state was stocking the area and no private propert...

Re: who's fishing opening day ?
Drove through Berkshire Valley Rd in Jefferson and saw the Rockaway, had to distinguish the river to the swamp area in a few large sections, this will take time to drain down. Checked the Wawayanda creek in Vernon, running out of its banks in a few slow sections, this will take even longer to drain ...

I cant make it out opening day, but hearing about the rain makes me more hopeful for Sunday when I should have a few hours to kill on the creek.

Re: Last weekend on general waters until the opener
I got my coolers and grill ready to setup in the river for some grill wading, saw some people doing that last year. I hate this...Do it at a lake, fishing for ditch pickles and crappie, where it is practical. People have their grills half in the road, leave litter and brother residents. Just my opi...

Re: Shad Fishing
We saw a handful of shad caught, but nothing crazy. Just before calling it quits I caught two nice chunky feisty hickory shad that were about 3 pounds. It always starts out slow, but the run has begun! Excellent news, you guys are a couple weeks ahead of me so that puts prospects around 1st / 2nd w...

Northern Snakeheads
Anyone have any luck catching these? I know there invasive to our area but I've been seeing videos of these fish giving great fights and lots of catch and cook blogs. I'm curious about these, so far I've only heard great things regarding how well the meat tastes.

Re: Has anyone noticed a change from wild brookies to browns?
I think browns are the threat to brookies, so if you see a wild brown's building it means the water is healthy and teaming with food for a larger fish to take over, also means that the brookies in that particular area are going to be stressed and eventually gone.

Re: Van Campens restoration project.
I think the discussion needs to branch further into why we all need to encourage preservation / conservation education in our schools, I was lucky enough to be raised in a more rural area of NJ, essentially forced to part take in the cub scouts as a kid because thats what all the neighborhood kids d...

Very nice! where were you? south / central / north / NW NJ? Re: Questions about Wild Brookie Streams (Dunnfield, Trout Brook, etc.)
I like searching on google maps then cross checking the area using this link http://www.protectedlands.net/map/ to see whether theres public access or not, I dont want trouble entering someone else's property.

Re: Lake Waywayanda Ice Out?
Went yesterday evening after work, a little breezy at first, fished by the boat launch and then the beach area (no boat) a few people were out on the lake shore w/ one in a canoe, no action for anyone but after 5:30 they're were plenty of risers. Lots of gnats, the most annoying ones to, eyes and ea...
