Nice fish, gotta love the mountain temps.
Where on the WB was the striper caught? Didn't think they ran that far up.

At the risk of alienating some, furled leaders are for those that can't cast. There, I said it.
You are 100% correct. That is why I use them.

Would someone explain the "furled leader" idea? I was using tippet rings just last night on the Delaware and my sighter and tippet seemed at one point to get all twisted up. Is that what the "furled" is about?

Re: Trout consumption

I prefer fish over meat, we'll go to a great steakhouse and I order fish. That being said I keep a few trout early season from a put and take stream, everything after that goes back, never keep wild fish. I prefer salt species over fresh.

Re: A new honey hole for me on the Musky

The Musky is 42 miles long from the Lake Hopatcong dam to the Delaware River. You can fish about 30 + of those miles without issue on either public lands or private lands that allow public access. There are so many spots just like the one you are showing here that are NEVER fished that it blows my ...

Re: Nymph and Streamer Leader

Good point Brian about one size does not fit all. I was looking for something that may come close, always looking to see if I can cut back on what I carry when fishing. I was also thinking if needed it's easy enough to cut a foot or two off the 20lb test line and retie the ring or swivel and tippet ...

Nymph and Streamer Leader

Just looking for what others use, and start a new topic. I've been using furled leaders for the years, and they are great. I just started to us the following with my 4, 5 and 7 weight, and has been working well with each. I use Seaguar line for tippet material, buy in bulk huge savings. Five feet of...

Re: Pequannock river

I've noticed a significant drop in the past couple of years. Managed two small ones today in a stretch I would of picked up a dozen or so a couple of years ago. I find myself fishing it less and less, it's really become disheartening.

Re: Upstate NY

I was up at the WBA this past Friday thru Sunday. Friday the WB except for the extreme upper section and main were unfishable, they got hammered with multiple storms in the morning. Water was to muddy until the evening, and even then it was very cloudy. Didn't fish much, just relaxed (beers) and wa...

I love them. As stated most furled leaders come with them. I tie them into my Tenkara level lines. I also use micro-swivels on my streamer leaders.

Re: Euro Nymph Techniques

I don't euro nymph, however I do primarily use a tenkara rod in NJ and while using a nymph the technique is almost identical. Use flouro leader to help get the fly down, weight as needed, want to be sure your on the bottom, however not so much weight that your always getting stuck. You also want to ...

Without getting into details of why, or the merits of barbed or barbless - I prefer and purchase flies tied on barbless hooks. If barbed I pinch them down.
