Re: Anyone out and seeing bugs hatching yet?

I was out two weeks ago and saw LBS crawling on rocks, went out yesterday and saw none, did see midges.

Nice of you to post the find, hopefully the owner frequents this forum. Any fish?
Got the big ole skunk.

I think I should have downsized my flies.
Yep go small 22 to 18 this time of year nymphing. Egg patterns produce well in the Winter months.

Re: stringer culling etiquette ?

I would have said something. A couple of seasons back I saw someone putting a trout on a stringer on a no kill stretch, he played dumb but eventually took it off the stringer and put it back, he left shortly after. Last season, the same stream saw another guy walking the path with a large trout in h...

Re: Who here center pins ?

Nope, not for me. I saw a couple of guys on the Flatbrook and Musky center pin fishing. Might as well just use spinning gear unless you're on the really big salmon rivers.

Re: Headed to NH's White Mtns for brookies

It was a great trip complete with the obligatory nuisance bear in the campground most nights. I need to download pix off my phone and will upload a bunch here. Those that are Facebook friends have already seen them there. A wild, native brook trout behind every rock for the most part, great scenery...

Re: Night fishing?

I do when up at the west branch. Know where your going from day time fishing and don't go to a remote spot. I wade out as far as I'm comfortable or needed and fish a mouse pattern casting to the bank and stripping out into the pool towards me, and to the sides. Works for me.

Re: The dog days of summer are upon us

Fished the Passaic a few times in the Fairfield area. WTS after the big rains and that is it for NJ.
Might go to the WB in the next couple of weeks if we get a cooling down on a weekend.

Re: Upper Brodhead Creek PA

I've fished it below there in the parks. I wouldn't consider Analomink upper, that would be above the confluence of Paradise Creek. I don't believe there is any public access above that junction. With regard to fish equivalent to WB Trout, not going to find them there. Some wild fish, mainly stocked...

Re: walking in the river

I'm a fan of Chota's. They last and are comfortable but more important to me are the bungee laces they sell. The last pair I bought did not come with them  but for about $10 I ordered bungees from them and swapped them out for the string laces. Nothing better than using the bungee laces to qui...

Re: walking in the river

Korkers, not surprised, mine didn't hold up well at all. I'm a 2 time loser with them. I'll be switching brands. Chota is the way to go, best felt soles I ever had, last pair the soles outlasted the uppers. My brother has Korkers - Im gonna try the Chota next thx I believe you will be happy, ...

Re: Water

Yep, no need for an early start with Carp. Always did my best back in the day late morning into the afternoon with spinning gear and corn. Should be interesting with fly gear this Summer. I've seen corn flies for sale, may pickup a few - LOL
