Re: Good luck and have fun tomorrow

I went for a hike this morning in the Black River State Park. I didn’t realize it was opening day... in my travels, I walked past no less than 20 people occupying a single 200 yard stretch where the river turns along State Park Road. Not a single person had more than 100 square feet of river themse...

Re: Gorge stocking

I'm sure a lot of those guys catch and release in that section , but I grew up fishing that strech and when I was a kid from the dam down to Hoffman's I just remember every one had a stringer on they're side clankin around , and I still associate that image with that stretch even though like you sa...

Re: Gorge stocking

I don't disagree with you , but if you are new to Fly-fishing , the pressured fish , crowded stream, forces you out of your comfort zone and makes you a better fisherman . I agree to what you say. You really have to be on top of your game somewhat to catch fish in KLG. Those trout have experience &...

Re: Gorge stocking

I find the stretch Pre-KLG to be more enjoyable to fish. From Shannon's down to the bridge. Yes its not C&R protected. But 99% of the guys release the fish anyway. & Shannon's stock alot of niceeee fish in there for all to enjoy. I lmao sometimes when I see most of the guys down in the KLG  l...

Re: Gorge stocking

KLG is over rated imo. Those trout there are pounded on a daily basis. The trout must get tired of getting a new hook into mouth everyday. Maybe 2-3 times a day. Ive watched as many as 10 guys fish the same exact spot after each other. Yes. The place is picturesque. But between the dog walkers that ...

Re: Stocking

They have been feeding them(salmon)dyed pellets for years and years, the farm raised trout I buy looks just like stocked bows from NJ, but it is raised in Idaho..that's an immersion circulator, but not sure about your methods of sealing the fish in plastic. Sous Vide is excellent for fish also. Alm...

Re: SBRR the premier trout stream?

Thou Ken Lockwood Gorge is nice. I find other rivers just as or nicer. The lower Musky for me get much love. Imo the Musky Gorge is way nicer & lower fishing psi. The Pequest is a great contender also. Big Flat Brook is okay. But has seen its better days. Paulingskill has some nice spots in more ob...

Re: Raritan river 3/9/19:

I caught a few nice brook trout on the fly several years ago in that lake, but you need to watch your back cast with all the people on the jogging path-The best spot was in a little channel by the island. Water structure changed. From what I understand now they trout hang out near discharge pipes a...

Re: Raritan river 3/9/19:

Well I live in Hoboken. It's not a river, but you can catch trout up at that lake in West New York by 85th street. Also, you can get some decent stripers in April/May off the Hoboken pier, not to mention some interesting conversations with the motley crew of fisherman there. Just be careful of the ...

Re: Stocking

What is the retail price differential these days for wild salmon versus farm raised? Am moving back to the states this summer and have to prepare myself for the prices! Wild caught fish is about 50% more expensive then farm raised. The farm raised breeders have been getting slick in presentation. A...

Re: Stocking

Wild salmon, they will catch at sea, but most is "refreshed", a fancy word for thawed frozen fish... Nothing wrong with "refreshed"= flash frozen 8-) . Amazing things about technology today ;) . cant feel or taste the difference It cooks a bit differently. It cooks and dries out quicker. If you jus...
