what type of fish are you looking for :?: . Im familiar with that section ;)
Anything a fly rod can catch would be acceptable to me.
forget about that section for trout unless they will be a recent stocking. The native fish there are suckers & sunfish off season

The green you saw is the last of the bottom release water after a long, hot summer coming out of the Cannonsville dam on the West Branch above Deposit.
Thank you sir......

quick trip to Hancock NY today

Took a quick trip up to Hancock NY after I fished the Upper Delaware West Branch in Deposit today. Scored some browns. Nothing to brag about. Average size was between 14-18 inch's. The water had a green stain to it today. Looked like peas soup. So I traveled into Hancock as the water temps has coole...

Re: Fall 2020 trout Stocking?

This year for me became a year of fishing "firsts" for me. I made the decision early on in the pandemic to pursue species I normally don't. The upper Delaware was "closed" by request of folks I know and respect, so I stayed away from my beloved West Branch for most of the spring. Instead, I targete...

Re: invasive species

Well, just make sure to harvest any you catch. From what I can gather, Vietnamese folks here in the DC area do love to catch and eat them and consider them a delicacy. It seems that some of our native born anglers prefer to return them to the water as a game fish. Most likely when I make that trip ...

Re: invasive species

For better or worse, I see that lots of people like to catch these as a sport fish now and don't kill them like they are supposed to. People in the DC to Philly corridor and beyond specifically target these fish for recreation purposes and seem pleased that they are established. Im gonna have to ma...

Re: CBS video on fly fishing's growing popularity during Q-tine

People still buy into the whimsical & enchanting Romanticism of The West. Don't get me wrong--it's beautiful, but it's not wholly prelapsarian as many (esp in the East) might believe. Between the heavy metals from mining, as Rusty mentioned, and the pesticide runoff from agriculture, you'd better t...

Re: CBS video on fly fishing's growing popularity during Q-tine

So when you leave this "dirty river state" to fish the West Branch please be advised that Deposit NY on the banks of the West branch was founded by the logging industry which is not exactly environmentally friendly. I referring to chemicals when I state dirty ;) . The Musky in the past was li...

Re: CBS video on fly fishing's growing popularity during Q-tine

Where I grew up there is a stream called the Cayadutta which when I was a boy with my fishing rod held across the handlebars of my bike, the Cayadutta would flow green, blue or white depending on what color they were dying the leather that day for the glove mills. That sounds like the Toms, althoug...

Re: CBS video on fly fishing's growing popularity during Q-tine

Just keep advertising where and when you do damage.....that'll bring more ppl and more pollution.. Research is how people find spots. I have no problem sharing spots with other anglers. Isnt this what sites like this are for :?: . Ive followed other sites that have been more geared towards helping ...

Re: CBS video on fly fishing's growing popularity during Q-tine

As I sit here wearing my green DEFEND JERSEY t-shirt, I will tell you that my family strolled along the Paulinskill yesterday and that river looked spectactular. While it may be known more for bass, I've certainly pulled a few trout of that stream's pocket water and dry-fly pools. Happy to have hon...

Re: NJ announces grants for Pequest and P-kill restoration

all those outdated dams that serve no purpose needs to come down in the state of NJ :!: :!: :!: Agreed. Now all we need is several hundred million dollars and some time. :D The best news about this grant is it is the first time in memory the state offered up funds taken from illegal polluters as a ...
