But then then beauty comes chomps on my lure :o . safely released to fight another day. started to fish down river. Then I seen my net. recovered...

I agree with not fishing in the heat of the summer, but the fish I expect to catch this time of the year have only been in the river since the fall . And most years I do really well up through Hackettstown.
the drought has effected the trout fishing in the upper sections of the musky imo.

Re: another 1 going down on the SBR

Rockafellow dam on lower SBR? yes Thought I recognized it. I did the budgeting for removal for USFWS and the watershed org several years ago as they were getting Superfund settlement monies for the removal at the time. I do know there was a land preservation that happened first and now the dam can ...

Re: Any one fishing

I tried the Musky in Hackettstown yesterday. No fish for me ,but the only other guy I saw had one on a stringer. Fished for about an hour and the wind never really stopped so I left. The highlight of the day was being checked by a CO in the parking lot. Real nice younger guy and we talked for about...

Re: Bird Flu going to effect trout spot closures ?

Wow! Are we going back to restrictions. Maybe they are trying to contain it not realizing that birds fly. We could always stay six feet away from the geese, but I don't think the geese will do the same. Im also thinking water mite be contaminated from the feces also. Im more focused on the rivers. ...

Re: How many private trout clubs in NJ ?

I'm surprised no one has started a 'pay to fish' set up, similar to the pheasant/chukar/quail hunting preserves. Used to be a few for private lakes/ponds around the state, and there was Eldridge Preserve in the Catskills, but it's gone upscale. https://www.facebook.com/fishingpoolmonthly/ this a pa...

Lower Ramapo River restoration project

Finally my semi-local home river getting some love with some restoration on the lower Ramapo River in the Oakland area. This was a very productive stretch when I was a kid fishing with my Dad. Fished here on this little pier as a kid before the dam down river breeched. Some GREAT memories fishing th...
