Re: musconetcong gorge

Some day, long from now, that will be a TCA or No-Kill stretch. I hesitate to post all I know for any variety of reasons, but wild fish will take up residence and could grow big if C&R regs are put in place. I was hopping to experience it in my fishing lifetime what you just mentioned   :...

Re: musconetcong gorge

Hello Rusty, Just read your comment about the gorge and you are right except you said in our life time. Heck, Rusty maybe in your life time but mine I don’t think so. I am now pushing 88 and now it is all down hill. So all you youngsters out there enjoy the gorge when the dam finally comes down but...

Re: musconetcong gorge

I have fished the Musky George many of times in the past. I fished it last in November 2023. I used to legally access just signing in @ the guard shack. Also used to have a pass to access the trail on that side to fish. But its all be rescinded in the last 3 years. When I fished it in November I tr...

Re: & another biting the dust soon !!!

This has guys all up in arms on Facebook's NJ Trout Fishing page. Claim it's a fly fishing conspiracy (TU) to get the state to end stocking in that area so that it can be wild brook trout only. Also claim opening up the river will allow snakeheads, flatheads, and stripers to have run of the river a...

Re: & another biting the dust soon !!!

I have fished there @ the dam in drought situations. I can actually see the water flowing somewhat @ the base under the dam. So you probably correct it does leak like a sieve. Do you think after the dam is removed will it effect the water level to the bloomsbury dam stretch ? No, it will only impac...

Re: she's going down for the count

I've been highly critical of this dam removal for the simple reason that the stated goal for the team was to provide fish passage for anadromous fish. So why zero fish habitat restoration and only dam removal and bank sloping? Too many bad engineers with no background in fisheries or fish habitat. ...

I might actually have to return to fishing the Pkill. I haven't done so in years, just not my preferred water type. Maybe taking out the dams will change my mind.
Imo taking that dam down & the Columbia river down now will change the eco-system for the entire river

Re: rockafellow property on the SBR

I go through that area a couple times a week on my way to Pennsy for work. I never really considered fishing it, is it more smallmouth/warmwater fishing? Purely speculation on my part, but they likely state stock it with trout and it would be too warm in summer for them to survive. the state stocks...

rockafellow property on the SBR

I got information that the Rockafellow property was sold recently. Perhaps the new owner will allow anglers to fish it ? Or from what I understand the dam will be demolished to allow fish passage ? That lower section of the SBR really never produced for me

stringer culling etiquette ?

Fished my home water to me on the ramapo today. Did pretty good. Was able to put 8 in the net today. All between 12-16 inches. All C&R safely. There was a guy fishing almost next to me. He caught a few. But he was a stringer guy. Now I have nothing against a person keeping fish for consumption. But ...

Re: good flows for stocking/spawning season

It was a bonehead move on my part. I had just driven home from NC and was rushing to return rental truck by 7 pm. I dumped my gear in my front lawn and returned the rental truck. I was so tired when I got back at 8 pm I went to bed without bringing it in. The next morning when I woke up it was all ...
