Re: Changes to NJ trout season about to be announced

And in that case, don't forget your chainmail mesh waders! Fishing with chain mail mesh waders is like cheating b'WHAHAH im LMAO both of you   to add a serious point tho; wading passaic can get really dangerous with the mud bottom. But i know of two nice stretches to wade fish (which ...

Re: Changes to NJ trout season about to be announced

Hopefully they make it official soon, I want to try the Passaic near me (if they stocked it already). The best way to get trout in the passaic is to cast a large copper spinnerbait, the next step is to take the pike you catch and have them barf up the trout :o  Jk lol, Ive never fished for...

Re: Nice large brookie...

i wonder why they keep the NJ Skillful angler program measurement at 19inches, i know it set to that from when they used to stock them. Do any clubs still stock them? If not then I imagine they could change the measurement to something like 9 inches as a minimum. I think that mite encourage ppl to ...

Re: Nature Open for Business - Wild Brookies

Tom, you need a 6' bamboo rod. Perfect for that kind of stream. I have one now! Or maybe its 6' 6''? Either way, I could use it there but I still would have to do a lot of bow and arrow casts as room for a back cast is limited. On such a tight stream I think the UL spin rod still lets me cast to a ...

Re: Nature Open for Business - Wild Brookies

Ive yet to find any fish of any size that a white 1/64th oz trout magnet wont catch :D damn i just have crap luck with them  I use these 1/32nd oz, sometimes 1/16th oz versions, of #8 jigs and tip it with a tiny worm plastic like a trout magnet. I love it for browns but never had a single ...

Re: Nature Open for Business - Wild Brookies

Needless to say, its getting weird out there.... However, the fish are none the wiser and if you have the time, go fishing!! I took a drive yesterday and hit up a tiny wild brookie stream. Very tiny! Inches deep in most spots and a low gradient so the fish are spooky and mostly hidden in undercut b...

Re: social distancing on opening day ?

There are a sh*t ton of fresh, finless stockies in the rivers already since they had to start early. Nobody is out targeting them. All are bridge dumps because the Division cancelled volunteer stocking for now. All waters open through this Sunday. Then only special regs waters on a C&R basis only. ...

Re: Raritan river 3/15-16/20

Chunker!! I still ignore this stretch of river even though you always post good results.... it will definitely pick up come spring. You will run into holdovers and also the spring stockies, but then also some smallmouth and any chance at the huge selection of species on the raritan. but rn is also ...

Re: Peapack Brook 3/9/2020

That little stream has had natural reproducing browns for way over 50 years, FYI. This guy knows whats up. NJ has only 30-ish officially designated Wild Trout Streams but nearly 200 Trout Production streams. I wonder what makes them "official" I figure some of it has to do with public access. Altho...

I have fished on many posted private property rivers & lakes without issue. Just be courteous & ask. I usually just go to the house & knock. Ask for permission. I tell them I'm a C&R angler. I just wanted to see if I can get your permission. 90% of the time they say no problem. Dont litter & destro...
