Re: Changes to NJ trout season about to be announced

The best way to get trout in the passaic is to cast a large copper spinnerbait, the next step is to take the pike you catch and have them barf up the trout :o  Jk lol, Ive never fished for stocked trout in the passaic river, but i hear they really do stack up around the bridges. I have onl...

Is there a saying that "Sensationalism is the mother of Activism"? If not, there should be.

Loon's Payette Floatant for all but CDC and then Frog's Fanny for CDC flies.
I just bought some Loon's top ride floatant the other day. I'll let you know how it performs.

Nice Fish!!!!! You carry a measuring stick? I'm sorry to coin a phrase from NEFF, but thta is kind of booby...๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Lightenup, I think you have it the other way around: NJAngler carries that Brookie wherever he goes; he likely just found the measuring stick there in the stream. But Mark, that is o...

Dubois, Wyoming

Has anyone ever fished in Dubois, WY? I've been binge watching fly fishing Youtube videos and this place was featured quite a bit. Looks lovely. Then I hopped on Zillow and started looking at retirement homes there

Stay safe brothers.

Fish nymphs........  Do any of you guys know William G. Tapply? Here's a great and funny vignette he wrote on the "dry-fly snob." You can read it here if you want. Fittingly, it's posted on Orvis' website :) : https://news.orvis.com/fly-fishing/the-truth-about-fly-fishermen-by-william-g-...

Dry fly floatant

My Mom bought me a dry fly powder floatant for Christmas so I feel obligated to use it. However, I find it difficult to work with and not terribly effective. I think I prefer the silicone floatants. What's your preference?

Re: Another Access Question

Just curious: why do you want access to that particular spot on the Musky?

ps I've always been torn between Willie's and Hot Rod's Hot Dogs.

Bill, I used to live at the southern end of Milltown Road in Bridgewater. I fished Jaycee Grove in Duke Island Park often as it was a stone's throw away. Those cliffs are a beautiful sight--thanks for the walk down memory lane.

74 degrees and Wild Brown Trout in March

After "school" today, I took my sons to a wild trout stream that I'd never been to before. There is a park nearby so we loaded the baseball bat into the trunk along with my bamboo rod and some dry flies. After hitting the ball a bit, it was time to explore the stream. We walked along the meandering ...

Re: A Quote from Brett, Rangeley Sport Shop - March 2020

Refreshing thoughts on what's to come: "On my walk in the woods today I stopped for a moment and rested from the concerns of the week. The trees swayed in the moist breeze as the late season snow fell to the ground. It occurred that the CoViD 19 and travel bans and fears around us had absolutely no...

BiggerThomas Jr. #1--Wild Brown Trout

After "school" today I took BiggerThomas Jr. #1 to a wts near our house. We rigged up the bamboo (Bernie Elsner 7 footer) with an EHC #14. We didn't have waders so we "rock waded" out to a pool that looked promising. After a few casts, we landed this beauty. The little brown is almost smaller than t...

Re: Access question

I have fished on many posted private property rivers & lakes without issue. Just be courteous & ask. I usually just go to the house & knock. Ask for permission. I tell them I'm a C&R angler. I just wanted to see if I can get your permission. 90% of the time they say no problem. Dont litter & destro...
