Re: New Mexico

Bubba, my family vacationed in Santa Fe two years ago. What beautiful country. The Rio Grande (about 18 miles west of Santa Fe) can be interesting if you're willing to cross some serious terrain. Here is a video by Nick Streit, one of the guides out there: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CslFVCHOt9Y...

Re: Natirar smallmouth fishing

I go there sometimes. Ive seen trout in there just last month, probably not worth the effort to target them with the nice smb population to target instead. TOo bad the ravine lake dam spillway is private property too. I bet there's some nice fish there. I like to fish the other parts of the upper n...

Good suggestions. I'd add the zebra midge (black)--a way overlooked fly imo. BT

Re: Trout Netting Replacement

Not trying to hijack or diminish your thread, just curious: how many people don't use a net at all? When my first one got worn out, I just never got a new one. Now I release all my fish in the water (as of late, at least; I hope no one can produce my infamous Gill Grab...). Your net got wore out ? ...

Re: R.I.P. Rick Ege (stonefly)

Those are nice memories, Brian. I knew Rick only through assisting him with stocking trout. He could be a very funny guy at times and I appreciated his patience with me as I was learning the ways into the fly fishing life. RIP Stonefly.

Nice looking rod, Tom.

And I'm glad to see there are still fish in that stream :D Just be careful on that bridge; I believe there's only one handrail?

Re: Some wild browns

Nice winter colors on those fish! I need to get off my lazy ass and do some fishing! I also enjoy the winter months for trout. Cold yes, but also very peaceful and easier to find water to yourself. You spend too much time on the links and brewpubs to be a trout angler. I like to divide my time betw...

Your post also reminded me that I haven't used a net in quite a while. I have become such a fly fishing minimalist that pretty soon I won't even be carrying a rod

Never look at the comments
Without looking at the comments you can't get an appreciation for just how whacky people are out in the world. Shit's scary what they believe!

I caught brookies there in 2013 and snapped my rod (stepped on it). Still a good trip tho. Watch out for black flies if you go in August/September.

I haven't worn a vest ever since my wife bought me a lanyard a few years ago. I don't carry much as it is, so the lanyard works just fine. Plus, much more fashionable

What can I say? Errands took longer than I thought, an appointment ran over, and before I knew it, the clock had struck 2:30.

Glad to hear the event was successful tho!
