Re: Need a flyrod that won't break the bank?

I tried to start a rod building business in conjunction with a local fly shop that didn't pan out. I have a pretty expansive inventory of rods that are good quality components, with sock and tube, that Ill let go for very low prices. I need to divest myself of this inventory. If you let me know wha...

Re: Big Flatbrook No Kill area

The Big Flat is currently flowing at 72.3 cfs which is decent for this time of year. I'd bet you catch fish.

I would think it's worth a trip even just for a good walk through the autumn woods. Let us know how you do.

Tempering and annealing metal matters.
Agreed. If you can determine your hook's "mettle" (bad pun, I know), that should help you with when to bend back and when to discard.

How has the KLG been recently?

Has anyone been fishing the KLG recently? If so, I'm wondering how you've been doing.

Saw this while hiking with my sons yesterday in Chester near the Cooper Gristmill. Any idea what it is?

I would imagine you could call the DEP although I've never had good luck reaching them. I had to report something once via their app and it went nowhere.

I've been finding plenty of stocked rainbows. A size i6 gold sparkle pupa has been doing very well. Zebra midge also. Make the pupa swim after it reaches the bottom. Most takes were on the swing or slow even retrieve.

Ditto

Re: Fished the Musky in Hackettstown area

Fished the musky today. water levels are low. But fishable. Gotta look for those deeper pockets for the fish. I even managed to get a native fish today  https://i.imgur.com/Vo56fK4.jpg https://i.imgur.com/v9GUdtQ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/uBS8nFg.jpg https://i.imgur.com/JCWrFPi.jpg Hey Troutman,...

Nice fish. I also love the color of your net.

I've never fished the Ramapo but we might take a trip up near Harriman St. Park, NY, to fish it next weekend (above the old chemical plant, obviously!)

Re: Shenandoah River

I’ll be heading down to the south fork of the Shenandoah for the first week of October. Wondering if the smallies will still be active enough for poppers, or should I be thinking clousers and crayfish patterns? Has anybody fish down there this time of year? Bob, when I've been unsure in such circum...

Crappies

My sons and I were fishing a Morris county bass pond on Wednesday when all of a sudden we started hooking up into some crappies. I'd never caught one before. Man, they are a great fight on a 4 wt! They all took line from the reel and were very splashy--great fun!

Re: Cooler temps

Air temps the last few days have been running about 10 degrees below average, esp. at night. I hope to wet a line tomorrow after work. Pray for those poor trout once my FBPT pierces the surface film and begins its hunt.
