Re: "Free-riders"
Those of us that are 70+ don’t need a license just a form of ID that shows our date of birth. One of the few benefits that come with old age. Wish they would do that for the hunting license and stamp, although we do get a license discount. Wonder what is more expensive to raise; pheasant or trout :?:

Re: "State Open Waters"
So, my question is this: If you are wading the stream/river--and you're not even touching the lands to either side, can't you wade and fish the length of all NJ State Open Waters--whether the land to either side is privately-owned or leased by some club? Even if a cable crosses the water with a No ...

Re: New york, trout fishing after Oct 15th
There are quite few streams/rivers open year round for trout and others close sooner. Check the special regs section starting on page 14 of the link for the county you are interested in.

Re: wild trout streams
Lots of private-land issues. Be careful. A friend, who is a mapping genius, has put a series of map's together, several showing property ownership boundaries. Alas, it just covers the Pinelands area right now. I have included a link to his map page, the various maps are in the upper right dropdown....

The inet can be very dark place at times. Some folks feel they can say whatever about folks they do not even know. A thick skin is needed to just ignore the ignorant.

Its not wise to take a sip from any body of water without treating it first. Giardia is found in just about every state.

Re: CBS video on fly fishing's growing popularity during Q-tine
I forget which Yellowstone book , but it mentioned wolf sightings in the Thorofare section of Yellowstone even before theyer reintroduction into the park . There are photo's I have seen, taken by Kevin Sanders, a guide in MT I know, of wolves in Yellowstone back in 1992. He was working with Busch P...

Re: CBS video on fly fishing's growing popularity during Q-tine
The more I think about it. Where can you go that man has not left its mark :?: You can get pretty close in some of the places out west. The Thorofare section of Yellowstone has been called the remotest area in the lower 48, the only foot steps have been from Native Americans, early explorers and ba...

Re: CBS video on fly fishing's growing popularity during Q-tine
Where I grew up there is a stream called the Cayadutta which when I was a boy with my fishing rod held across the handlebars of my bike, the Cayadutta would flow green, blue or white depending on what color they were dying the leather that day for the glove mills. That sounds like the Toms, althoug...

Re: Water Temps
Looks like some much needed rain is headed our way for certain. My guess is limited flooding for most trout streams, but plenty in low lying areas and along the coast. Time to make sure the generator fires right up.... NWS is saying very little rain here on the coast, but they have said that before...

Re: Boquet Salmon
Lake Champlain has a pretty healthy population of Salmon and the Boquet in NY is only getting better. If the Imperial Dam in Plattsburgh ever does get removed, it will open up the Saranac, but the effort supporting that recently failed.. https://www.wamc.org/post/new-york-dec-releases-plans-dam-near...

I fished the Paulins Kill once with a group of Scouts at Columbia WMA. Do not have fond memories of it
I imagine the dam would be a good target for removal if it is still there.
