Re: Esopus Creek?

Ok, I'm back. Had to scope out a few spots on my own. Lots of small rainbows and hooked up to this 18" brown in a deep hole. Espous Creek, I'll be back!

Esopus Creek?

Hi all, i will be up in that area next week and would like to fish the Esopus. Can you recommend a good fly shop and/or a few good starting points? Don't want to burn anyone's spot, just a point to park, walk in and get started.
Thanks

Anyone have this book and are willing to part with it at a reasonable price. It is out of print and I have not been able to find one that is not ridiculously priced.
Best to contact me via email: dbarr15@aol.com

Re: Streams have been completely changed..

I have to agree! Went to the upper section of KLG for the first time in about 3 years and was I shocked. The "roadway" of course is closed, which is great as far as I am concerned but did not realize the damage that the flood must have done to it. The river itself seems to be in good shape BUT the l...

Re: Water Temps

Water temps are back up and river is down. Need some rain and some cool nights. I got 2 early morning outings last week when water was down to 62-64.
Back on hold for a while.

Just checked the USGS site for the SBR and there is a temperature graph! Is this new?

Water Temps

Why is there no water temp. information on the USGS reporting? It would seem to be something useful. to know.

Wader recomendations

OK, so I have had the Redington Palix River Waders for the past two years and am getting fed up with with finding and patching leaks. I would gladly pay more for a "better" Stronger" pair of waders that might hold up better. I have been fishing 100+ days a year in all kinds of weather. What do you t...

Winter nymphing advice

So I spent the morning in the lower section of KLG and hit all my spring/summer/fall spots for just one fish. I imaging with the cold water temps the fish are hunkered down but where?

Care to share some advice on what type of water/depth/speed etc to look for when fishing during the winter?

Mostly rainbows.
That fly is great, I used it under a FBPT but all fish were caught with the midge.

Re: Van Campen 11/7/19

Yes - good numbers of fish, nothing of size but just fun to catch.
The fly is Tim's "Simple Midge Larva" and works great. I tie them in black, brown, gray, and cream. I use silver ex-small ribbing.

Van Campen 11/7/19

When most of major rivers are blown-out with all the rain the Van Campen was really nice and pretty clear. Took my 7.5 3WT and worked the potion north of Millbrook Village. Productive day and some great weather.

Fly fishing etiquette rant

I can't take it. Arrived at the river today to find two anglers standing in the water in the lanes that two days ago I pulled out a few fish. I doubt they worked the lanes before stepping in but it just ruined that stretch of water. I move up stream to a secluded section and was doing nicely by myse...

Low water/flow tactics

Would anyone like to share a few low water/flow tactics for trout fishing? Went out to KLG on Tuesday after being away for 3 weeks and found it very difficult to find fish. I was there in the early AM so temps. were ok.
