Re: Who Uses a Net?

I use net on big rivers. This reminds me does anyone have a recommendation for a small wts net. Easy to carry. I had a small Brodin net, I bought it at Shannon's a while back, it was a great small net, but got broken iin my luggage on a Montana trip...it was too small for some of the Montana fish, ...

I use a net fly fishing all the time unless I catch a wild trout which is to small for the net. I catch and release 100% of my trout and the net allows me to keep the fish in the water with as little trauma as possible.
exactly the same for me.

Most likely! If you are on Instagram look up Riversongnets. He builds his own custom nets so perhaps he could do just your netting. He does the clear “ghost” style rubber. So as long as a size exists he can install it.
Ha, I was going to suggest the same person..

you have been fishing andf tying for about 35 years. the guy I met was older than 35, and younger than 70, so I'd guess you are in that range.. ;)

I've caught small pickerel in Batsto creek years ago, but I bet there are bigger ones near the reservoir, or in deeper pools on the creek. I fished there in 1981.

Is this upstream or down stream from Fiddler's Elbow? I have an invite to fish there this weekend and wonder of it will be all silty. Yes, I am going with a blueblood;)

Re: Musky report 10/14

I was on the middle Musky yesterday, saw plenty of fish stuck to the bottom and not moving, it was early afternoon. There were a few tan caddis flying around, but nothing hatching, except leaves, and nothing rising, water is extremely low...I won;t be returning until there is some rain.

Won't be 95° F where I'll be next week ....🥶 Montana? Re: Ok I jinxed it the weather is gross

I can't believe how low the Black?Lamington and the SBRR and my little WTS have gotten the past month. I had really thought all the rain we had the past year would have given the aquifers a charge to handle a dry end of summer. Right? I thought the same...too bad for us, and this last week of bone ...

Yep, I put on the old black ant with the turn of hackle, everything refused it, they seemed to key on the fat body and the wing...The x-caddis had the black thin body and the wing, it got the most attention. The trout would rise quickly and turn after close inspection, the smallies and sunnies inhal...

Flying Ants

Yuge flying ant hatch on the SBR on Monday..water temp peaked at 65...I caught a few smallies and a sunny as I didn't have a good flying ant pattern. I used a black x-caddis, the trout refused it, the small mouth and sunnies loved it...anyone have a good flying ant pattern?

I saw a few government employees this morning standing in Spruce Run Creek with a line over it and a line hanging in the water by the flood gauge...anything to do with this or is this the USGS monitoring their gauges? That is how they calibrate their gauges. When you see a red "star" on a readout, ...
