Re: March Browns?
There were a fair amount of the bigger sulphurs hatching last night on the mighty rockaway and a smaller, darker mayfly that was too small to be a march brown (probably size 16-18). BUT the stupid rainbows weren't of any interest in soft hackles or wet flies, let alone feeding on top. :(. I couldn't...

Re: March Browns?
I was down at the Pequannock looking around and did not see much in the way of bugs. I used to hit great hatches in the poconos Memorial day weekend. I usually see March Browns on the Pequannock all of May. Granted there are not tons of them but fish take the drys. Haven't seen any MB's there eithe...

Get the diamond sinkers and leadheads ready for Saturday's opener! Mother nature is a raging again. Nice of her to help float stock.

Re: & another biting the dust soon !!!
This has guys all up in arms on Facebook's NJ Trout Fishing page. Claim it's a fly fishing conspiracy (TU) to get the state to end stocking in that area so that it can be wild brook trout only. Also claim opening up the river will allow snakeheads, flatheads, and stripers to have run of the river a...

Re: A PSA about your PSA
Great advice. Get you annual physical, get a PSA, and get a colonoscopy for those over 50. Don't let pride or fear get in the way of staying healthy. I've had too many people close to me pass cause they ignored things out of fear or pride or whatever goes through peoples heads.

Re: she's going down for the count
I might actually have to return to fishing the Pkill. I haven't done so in years, just not my preferred water type. Maybe taking out the dams will change my mind.

Re: Seeing any redds?
How have flows been? Have they been too low to build redds? Or could the redds be in tributaries to these streams? Flows are good for this time of year. There's a possibility of some heavy rain to start the weekend as well depending upon how the coastal storm tracks. Temps have dropped significantl...

Re: Seeing any redds?
Not I but I've made a conscience effort not to fish any streams with wild reproduction the last 2 weeks. I'll f with the stockers and give the wild ones time to do their deeds for the rest of the month. I'm in the minority and still wish they had closed seasons on streams with repo.

I go through that area a couple times a week on my way to Pennsy for work. I never really considered fishing it, is it more smallmouth/warmwater fishing?

Re: stringer culling etiquette ?
Intentionally killing fish and not consuming them is wanton waste and illegal. If I'd saw that I'd have ripped the guy a new a-hole (cause he is one), wtf kind of sportsman did he think he is culling stringered fish.

Damned city folk will never get it, just cause they love to live like sardines and get the jitters when they're in open space doesn't mean we all are like that.

Re: Apps for weather and flows
My golfer friends recommend WeatherBug app. It's easy to use and gives you lightning strike data in real time (important to me cause I venture off the beaten path and have gotten caught in storms I couldn't see coming due to heavy foliage). Nice radar feature as well.

Re: Who here center pins ?
Not me, saw too many guys doing this while steelhead fishing and was completely turned off to it. Pinning to get a 100 yard drift while others are trying to fish just seems rude to me. The pinners didn't seem to care if you were there fly fishing or spin fishing below them. no fishing etiquette fro...
