Re: Rise Forms

Honestly it's tough call cause newly stocked fish don't rise the way they are supposed to in the given situation ... Maybe after a couple of weeks it's different . I was out Saturday afternoon after the crowds left for a couple hours on a local stream. They were rising like wild fish when the caddi...

Re: Changes to NJ trout season about to be announced

Just my opinion - State should have cut the limit back to three. Way too many greedy people that will fish everyday, take a limit or three because they have time, and clean out a stream in a couple of weeks.

Re: Changes to NJ trout season about to be announced

The beginning of this thread suggested that in season stocking would continue this year except that it will done randomly and stocking day closures will not be in effect. I’ve seen nothing to suggest that all stocking will be completed by April 17th or that the entire season allotments are currentl...

Re: Changes to NJ trout season about to be announced

Well - The word must of got out - LOL. Went Saturday morning to a local stocked stream, had a nice stretch to myself with just another guy spin fishing one hole. Lots of trout, stopped counting at 20, some nice size ones, and for stocked fish they had some fight in them. Kudo's to the state for the ...

Rumor has it all stocking will be completed and ended by April 17th.
Just to be clear - Are you saying they will not stock into May as usual, all allocated fish for a given stream will be in by April 17th?

Re: Changes to NJ trout season about to be announced

The Governor announced this change yesterday for those that don't believe it or are awaiting formal word. I was posting the Shannon's private waters along Vernoy Road yesterday when the CO pulled up to make sure I knew about the changes and that he was driving the length of the river to let anglers...

Nice one. I've caught a few that surprised me over the years based on the size of the creek.

Frogs fanny. !!!! If that is what you use, buy in bulk for a fraction of what you pay from the fly shops. This bottle will last you and your buddies a couple of lifetimes. It is nothing more than hydrophobic fumed silica. https://www.albochem.com/product/fibercapital-fumed-silica-thickener-high-str...

Re: Dry Fly Fishing 3_14_2020

I was out yesterday afternoon. Landed a Brown on a black soft hackle, switched to a small elk-hair caddis when I saw a few hatching, hooked another Brown but lost it. Also saw small LBS about a size 18 or 20.

Re: Little Black Stoneflies

I've found that as long as the sub-surface or surface fly is black and size 18 to 16 the trout will happily take it. Simple black soft hackle or elk hair caddis does the trick.

Re: Who Uses a Net?

I always use a net, safest way to land and release Trout regardless of size, barbless hooks help also. I have a few of various sizes to fit the trout I'm after. I would like to resurrect my original small creek net, hence my netting post.

Most likely! If you are on Instagram look up Riversongnets. He builds his own custom nets so perhaps he could do just your netting. He does the clear “ghost” style rubber. So as long as a size exists he can install it.
Thank you. I'll reach out.
