Re: Big Flatbrook 11/1

Poaching occurs by spin & fly fisherman. Its absurd to think 1 is better then the other. Just as fishing etiquette for both. Its the fisherman. Not the method he uses to fish Come on now, the majority of poaching comes from the spin guys. That being said one is not better than the other. As far as ...

Re: Big Flatbrook 11/1

I would be interested in that as well. I have not fished much in the last 5 or 6 years because of kids/career but that river used to hold fish over decently before the no kill.

Re: Fly fishing etiquette rant

Big Horn river Montana, 5 of us were fishing a large seam and doing well. Two drift boats with guides and clients float down the seam and land, they decide to wade into the seam and start yelling at us about how it was their river and spot. One of our party proceeded to catch a BIG rainbow at their...

Re: Water Temps

That's one of the trips o want to do in future. I expect some pics. What size rods will you be fishing. Pix in a couple of weeks when I get back. I'm taking my T&T No Sanctuary 9 foot for 5 weight with a Hatch reel. I'm also taking my new Douglas SKY 7 weight which is also a 9 footer and matched to...

Re: Low water/flow tactics

I usually just look for moving water like water in the klg you never see people fish. You can go dry dropper or soft hackles or relatively small nymphs. I don't use any split this time of year. I never fished the gorge this time of year, I never thought temps would be any good from the large bathtub...

Re: Water Temps

I have fished some of those in blistering heat and temps were cold. I like adequate water to fish those though, not sure if you have that now.

Re: BooFest 2018

You can get some pretty good rods on ebay for very reasonable prices. Dennis Stone and Bill Critchfield all have new rods on there regularly. You can get them for around 500 usually.

Don't let the time of year stop you. I have fished WTS in August. Some probably never get above 70. Adequate water is another story.

Re: NY State Hatchery Issue

I work with automatic transfer switches, I can only imagine the age and shape of the device and how frequently a gov agency serviced and tested the thing. What a shame.

Re: Finally Nice Weather and Nice Trout

That is actually a nice looking fish. Rusty or anyone else that may know, hare the rainbows holding over in the new catch and reelease area on the flatbrook. One of the fisheries biologists is using PIT tags to monitor stocked rainbow survival and distribution in the Flat Brook. Next time I see him...

Re: My First Land Locked Salmon?

The eye is too far forward for a landlock, tail is to square and the telltale red spots therefore I believe it is a Brown Trout. I looked at a 100 pics this morning and eye head are the only things i could say didn't look quite right. Hatchery fish have been known to be mutants though from time to t...

Re: South Branch

I can't answer the question about what they stocked, although i don't think this is the time of year they stock them that small. I can say the SBR has stream bred rainbows come from tribs and almost definately from in stream spawning. There just seem to be too many of them now to only be coming from...

Re: Lamington River Pottersville-Bedminster

Scout some areas during a hatch. Might be easier to see what is in it. Probably the best way to target trout if there are any. Sulphurs will be here soon.
