Re: Fall 2020 trout Stocking?
With October on the way, my mind is getting trouty :geek: We saw changes to this year's spring stocking, I wonder if there will be any similar changes, or if any at all. Anyone have any intel on the trout stocking this fall? I havent heard anything yet myself. No changes. Fall stocking is simple co...

Re: Lamington/NBRR Smallies - biggest seen?
Unfortunately, the Lamington suffers mightily from man's interference, leaving it both a poor trout and smallie fishery. The Kay Dam that Morris County Parks owns is a large contributor to the problem, at least for trout. Further down the Black when it becomes the Lamington, it suffers from current ...

Re: Water Gap Grass
Its definitely grass. Fished bass bugs on top the entire day with bright sun and the fish came up 9 - 11 AM. 18 inches or so. Swinging flies was not possible with all that grass. It was there two days before also. I guess it is the long wavy strands you see coming off the bottom an waving in the cu...

Re: Water Gap Grass
Floated the Worthington area yesterday. Odd amounts of long thin grass at all levels of the water column. Sort of grass you might find along the bank? but odd that its so abundant at this low water time of the year. Don't think T Storm related - Dam releases somewhere upriver? Odd to see in otherwi...

Necessity is the mother of all invention as the saying goes. Every one of us would be out on those inner tubes doing the same for our families if forced to do so as these people are.

I've seen them on many rivers over the last few years. Seems to be a growing trend.

The more I think about it. Where can you go that man has not left its mark :?: You can get pretty close in some of the places out west. The Thorofare section of Yellowstone has been called the remotest area in the lower 48, the only foot steps have been from Native Americans, early explorers and ba...

Re: Water Temps
Looking at the long term forecast and daytime highs are dropping this week and nighttime temps to hit 60s and even down to upper 50s later this week into next. That seems to be the new norm - Summer starts by June 1 but ends or starts to by mid August. We still need rain, though.... SBR got down to...

So when you leave this "dirty river state" to fish the West Branch please be advised that Deposit NY on the banks of the West branch was founded by the logging industry which is not exactly environmentally friendly. I referring to chemicals when I state dirty ;) . The Musky in the past was li...

Re: NJ announces grants for Pequest and P-kill restoration
all those outdated dams that serve no purpose needs to come down in the state of NJ :!: :!: :!: Agreed. Now all we need is several hundred million dollars and some time. :D The best news about this grant is it is the first time in memory the state offered up funds taken from illegal polluters as a ...

Re: SBR USGS gauge gets temp data
I think the real shock will come when the KLG is well below 70F even on hotter days and anglers get back in there to realize they aren't catching very many trout. It hit 80F this summer and lethal for most trout species is 79.5 degrees. Agust used to post about this often, that the KLG is on the low...

Re: Spent a few days in Deposit NY fishing the upper west branch delaware
My favorite river, but I only fished it two days this year, a new personal low. I think I put in 15 days last year. It was a combination of locals initially asking out of towners not to come up and later, way too many out of towners overrunning the river. Looks like you have landed some nice ones.

Re: SBR USGS gauge gets temp data
Would .7 miles upstream from the Lake Solitude dam put the gauge in the Club water? Definitely agree that it would be bad to fish with those water temps. Do you know at what depth they take the water temp at the guage? You can see why trout in the gorge area would be desperate to find a spring/seep...

Re: SBR USGS gauge gets temp data
If you wanted to fish the KLG No-Kill today, you would see quickly why that is a very bad idea, assuming it still has many trout at all after this summer when temps neared 80F.

Re: Water Temps
Looks like some much needed rain is headed our way for certain. My guess is limited flooding for most trout streams, but plenty in low lying areas and along the coast. Time to make sure the generator fires right up....

They won't be coming back there anytime soon. My competitor is restoring the Solitude Club above the dam and the SBR is Yoohoo chocolate for a few days and more to come. Post a TikTok saying muddy water converts people into responsible stewards of the Earth. They'll never come back.
