Re: High bridge Dam Tik Tok party

They won't be coming back there anytime soon. My competitor is restoring the Solitude Club above the dam and the SBR is Yoohoo chocolate for a few days and more to come.

Re: Raritan river- rough week ! 6/30/20:

This story is popping up everywhere and there seems to be no end in sight. We just have to realize a few things even if none of us likes it. Covid has kept folks cooped up and stir crazy. It is hot as the center of the sun. We haven't seen much rain this calendar year. And Tik Tock and other social ...

Re: fishing the west branch upper delaware this week

Lot of bad info on native striped bass here, so let me try to correct the record. First of all, 100% of the striped bass in the mainstem, East or West are native, wild fish that spend most of their lives in the ocean. They migrate with river herring and shad, feeding on both as those two forage spec...

Re: WMA closings

You guys are talking about two different Sunoco stations....route 30 at the Fish's Eddy exit is the East Branch and the one below Horton is on the Beaverkill. Your rite Rusty. I was referring to the sunoco @ fish's eddy. I think the other sunoco is near the town of the roscoe exit :?: There is no s...

Re: WMA closings

That's a shame that the division was against it because it's really not closing down that much water. I could understand that the CO's would have a lot more to do though. You have to realize that only Montana has these temperature related river closures and that is the only state that also does not...

Re: WMA closings

That's why there's no fly fishing in Montana, right? 🤔 Not sure I'm following you? Hoot Owl closures affect all forms of angling for trout, not just spin or just fly. Montana is so famous for its wild trout fishing that it goes the extra mile to protect those fish because they know they are a cash ...

Re: Water Access Points Map

Oh, boy, here we go, picking apart your admirable effort...but I have to inform you that your #62 does not match the described location. (There actually IS a F&G signed access point with dirt parking lot just across the river bridge (North Side) from where you have #62 now (on Valley Rd./Shurts Rd....

Re: Tippet rings - thoughts?

At the risk of alienating some, furled leaders are for those that can't cast. There, I said it.  Your not alienating me. With the limited time I get on the river with little kids it is a surprise I can still catch a few fish. Ah yes, I still remember the Joe P before kids angler.

Re: Cut-off temp for summer trout?

I agree with 68...but, If you take the temp in the morning, and it's hot out, check every half hour or so as the temperature of the water can rise very quickly on hot sunny days..I was surprised when I found out how fast. One day I went in the morn and it was 63 degrees by noon it had risen to 70 d...

Re: WMA closings

I agree. I stop before the end of June. I was expressing my exasperation at seeing cars and fishermen this time of year in the musky. Saw several today at the pt. Mnt. TCA. Since the TCA's are C&R with exception of some allowing one over 15" I wonder if there is a way to close them when temps indic...

Re: Cut-off temp for summer trout?

Modern stormwater systems do a wonderful job at buffering these flows directly into our streams and rivers, but the trouble for NJ is that so many of our systems are very much outdated and lack those protections.

Re: Cut-off temp for summer trout?

nope. i wonder if these downpours and scattered storms are helping too. I imagine the more water, the better? Downpours hurt in a lot of cases, superheated runoff from hot impervious surfaces. A good example would be runoff from Rt 57 hitting the Musky and raising the water temp further. I see, i a...

Re: Cut-off temp for summer trout?

New to this forum--and an enthusiast of limited experience--so I want to ask: What water temperature is considered the high cut-off point for trout fishing? I agree with 68...but, If you take the temp in the morning, and it's hot out, check every half hour or so as the temperature of the water can ...

Re: WMA closings

I am ok with this for two reasons. One of those reasons is the people I still see fishing the musky. I support their right to do it, if they're hungry. I'd prefer letting the fish find shade and become a nice holdover for later. This isn't going to shut down fishing on the Musky, it's more about bo...
