Re: Next on your purchase list

Probably get me another Shimano Stella this year. I really like the 2019 look vs the old ;) Money bags!! I have Stella 4000 that is over decade old I use for bass fishing. And by "use" I mean it sits safely in its box as I dont want to ding it up like all my other reels! not even. No differen...

Re: stuck in a rut

Confidence is key , but the bottom line is you got to go where the fish are , you always increase your chances when you go some where you know the population of trout is high. Yes that sounds simple , but it might be a factor . Very true! I learned to nymph at the KLG. Lots of hungry fish there mos...

Re: I Need Some New Waders

I hear you on the Simms price tag, I used to be the same way but then I gutted it up and bought a pair. Best thing I ever did. They paid for themselves twice over since I get them, wore them 10 years then off loaded them on to my son and got a newer pair. I used to go through waders every season or ...

Land locks are doing well but too many googans are putting them in the smoker!   True, but that fishery is meant as a put and take fishery. The whole put and take fishery is just sad honestly. We all saw how the fish can grow but why have to kill everything hence my googan reference...

Re: Bamboo Fly Rod over Fireplace Mantle?

OK, you asked for opinions, so here is mine: NO, fish it, or sell it to someone who will. If it is in bad shape, and not a viable rod then give it (or sell it for a smaller amount) to someone who will fish it. Then buy a cheap piece of crap that you would never fish, or is un usable and hang that o...

Re: Edison Fly Fishing Show this weekend

I should add that I saw a "fish tattoo artist" at one booth. He had one steely-eyed customer in his chair. Never saw that before at the show. I checked him out as I'm in the market for one. I want a brown trout taking a mayfly with some scenery in the background in black and grey. His designs were ...

Re: Edison Fly Fishing Show this weekend

I guess there are still many out there unaware of Fisheries meetings held by NJDF&W. Rutgers people fielded MANY questions about trout and trout stocking to the best of their knowledge Can I buy a beer at the fisheries meeting? I can at the fly show. When I can get a beer at the fisheries meeting m...

Everyone goes to this, but not the Fisheries meetings offered by the State.
Cause the show is a hell of a lot more fun than sitting around listening to various groups bitch about what they think is wrong.......
If I want that I'll just work all weekend.

Re: South Branch Advise

Plenty of great water well below the KLG and Clinton. I don't for the life of me understand the hard one people have for KLG. It's pretty but not remote, its most often crowded, the fish are pounded into submission. There's more than a handful of jerks whether they are sporting fly tackle or spin g...

Re: Rhinehart Brook brown trout removal...

Completely agree with NJA. I love brookies but in NJ they are playing cards against a stacked deck favoring the house (pun intended). Browns are very worthy wild fish and probably should be left to their own devices in streams where they've come to supplant brookies. That strategy works well in PA a...

Re: Rhinehart Brook brown trout removal...

I know a formerly good brookie stream that could have used 1,000 wild browns. It's overrun with fall fish now and the brookies are gone.
