Re: Stockies on the SBR no pictures
Why take pics of the same fish over and over and over and over again....there definitely pretty dis yr if the state wont stock variety of trout species and only stock rainbows, they should at least equip them with fancy hats https://i.postimg.cc/25fHv6bD/trout-fortress-2.png That way they're all un...

Stockies on the SBR no pictures
Hit the SBR yesterday..swung a caddis emerger, an iris caddis, but a LaFontaine will work just as well...let it go deep and then lift it, and let it drop every few feet. Let it swing and sit on each drift. It was a bloodbath...They usually hit on the lift or the swing..

Re: Dry fly floatant
Trust me...use Flyagra, you wont look back.
If you fly floats for more than four hours...seek medical attention.
Google this stuff. I was introduced to it on the Big Horn River during the black caddis hatch. They use cdc wing caddis. It makes them float forever. Tie it dip it dry it.

Opening day? I drive around with a passenger seat full of rocks and an open sunroof...watching fat old men try to chase you in waders is amusing...especially the neoprene booty ones.

Re: Access question
I have read sveral places in NJ. The property owner owns to the deepest thalweg, or the lowest elevation under the water. So if posted on both sides stay out. If oosted on one side you may paas but stay in the shallow water on the non-posted side..

Re: Peapack Brook 3/9/2020
Browns do reproduce in our streams and previously stocked Browns from years past are the origin of the current "wild Browns". What Rusty meant was that currently caught Browns in the Peapack were not stocked but are progeny of previously stocked fish. In other streams you may run into holdover Brow...

Re: Public Meeting on Trout Stocking Program February 29
Sounds like they had lots of hair brained ideas in the 70s and 80s! My good friend's dad worked for the department with Bob S back at that time. There was a plan to introduce lake run/steelhead trout into the Mulhockaway so that there would be a run of fish out of the reservoir. My friend's dad sai...

To answer Johnw questions on returning Brook Trout. Here a few photos of Brook Trout caught from the Raritan river (save the mishandling comments please) when the State was stocking Brook Trout upriver. These trout were caught near the fish ladder in Bound Brook, not far from the tideline in New Br...

There are browns in there too. Not a lot but a few. The closer to the stream it flows into, the more you see. Just be careful with your stream pics. Many streams have a distinct pool or rock or waterfall. I won't name yours but someone might just to be a d*ck. Its one of the reasons I stopped posti...
