Re: Who Uses a Net?

Agreed always have the net .... Sure I get it you don't need it for small trout , but practice on the small ones so you don't screw up the big ones . .... And it's one this to screw up your own fish , but no one wants to be the guy who screws up the net job on theyer buddy's trophy fish .

Re: New fly tiers

Woolybuggers , Hares Ear and Elk Hair Caddis . Not only good patterns but if you can tie them well , it's a good foundation of tying skills . Working with Hackle , dubbing , elk hair , furs, ribbing , knowledge of different hooks and why there are different hook models . Plus a bunch more

Re: Trout Netting Replacement

Not trying to hijack or diminish your thread, just curious: how many people don't use a net at all? When my first one got worn out, I just never got a new one. Now I release all my fish in the water (as of late, at least; I hope no one can produce my infamous Gill Grab...). Your net got wore out ? ...

Re: nj brookies... ever again?

60% is a bigger number than I thought ,( guess I didn't do the required reading either)but of of that 60% , how many properly release those fish ? Or release those fish when the water temps are 70°f and above ? Or aren't taking a load of pictures while theyer catch is out of the water while they set...

Re: Cold Morning, Icy Guides, Hungry Trout

Those are nice browns , they look wild ! Hard to tell, the second photo you will notice that the pelvic fins look a little worn down. Strange thing is that usually whenever I catch browns the aggressively strike even in the cold but this time the browns were much more subtle strikes. Well I would s...

Re: nj brookies... ever again?

I kinda like the idea we only stock rainbows , I'd love it if the clubs would only stock rainbows . Then flat out we would only have browns and brookies come from natural reproduction. I think the section of the south branch from bud lake down to long valley that's no longer being stocked except for...

Re: Fly Tieing Expo in Parsippany

Yea this is just about a tradition for the weekend before Thanksgiving in NJ ( except 2 years ago it was in PA ). I think there's flys for sale , but it's more for the fly tier , but it's a great time none the less . Lots of experience in that room , take advantage of it .
