Re: Trout to Smallmouth transition
Stopped by the Lamington at the one lane bridge around Burnt Mills for half hour or so this afternoon. Little guys smacking some bugs on top all around me but all I had were woolly buggers. Managed one smallie and bright orange breasted sunfish. That remnant dam will be removed later this year and ...

Re: Trout to Smallmouth transition
I have fished the Lamington by 523 in summer time. I did get mostly smaller smallies (7-10 inch) as well as some wild browns. I fished up from 523 towards where the Coldbrook comes in, so that would explain the wild browns. I imagine if you go from the Lamington down towards the NBR, it would be mo...

Re: Trout to Smallmouth transition
Thanks for the feedback guys. Never thought about the Muskie that way, but I guess it makes sense with the mountain tribs it picks up heading down to the Big D. I might get out early tomorrow AM before the work calls start and hit the NBRR/Lamington junction. I need a full morning to head further so...

Trout to Smallmouth transition
You guys know roughly where on the SBRR and Muskie it is safe to start fishing downstream strictly for smallmouth without accidently encountering trout, especially wild ones?

Re: Report: Clairmont Stretch 25 May, 2019
Brookies?! I haven't caught a brookie in that stretch in 3 years at least. Good to hear.
Does anyone know if the big tree that used to extend almost all the way across the bridge pool, got cleared away naturally, or did it have help?

lost rod/reel
I pulled a huge blunder a week ago Saturday, 5/18, and only realized it last night. I was parked at the gravel pull-off right past Elisabeth Lane and Bartley-Flanders Rd. After fishing the SBRR in the AM, I was packing up, and STUPIDLY left my rod/reel leaning in the bushes. I got a phone call from ...

Re: Old Claremont TCA facelift
Its tough to improve for a number of reasons. Its fairly low gradient which makes narrowing the channel difficult. The stream bottom is more clay/sand/pebble rather than rocks or boulders. I think even if you placed large boulders here and there, it would just erode the banks and not deepen the cha...

Re: Old Claremont TCA facelift
I am really glad to see that the little piece of property where the house used to stand near the walking bridge is now owned by Morris County. It had been owned by Frazier Industrial and I was really concerned with what their intentions were with it. They must have sold/granted t to the county, per ...

Nice to see those! You were just downstream and behind my house. Was that recent?

Old Claremont TCA facelift
I fished the SBR Claremont from the bridge pool to about 250 yards upstream of the Fairmont parking lot yesterday. Caught 2 nice and lively wild browns, but the biggest ah-ha out of the trip is hw much this stretch has changed in the past year for the good. The high flows seemed to have cleared out ...

Re: Rhinehart Brook brown trout removal...
Completely agreed as well with Drossi and NJA. I love brookies and I am all for protecting them as much as possible within reason, but NOT at the expense of wild brown trout. I had not heard that to be the case, but it was early in the process that I had talked to F&G. Actually I don't have a proble...

Re: Wild browns - 12/15/18
Good to hear! I've gotten out a couple over the past 2 weeks and landed a few very nice wild browns in my local WTS. The good water levels are really helping things. No pics tho.

Re: NBRR concrete walls
Yep, that's the spot. Not a very deep to be jumping into! A farm bridge makes sense, as there are no proper roads on either side. The one side is now Forbes property.

Does anyone know what the concrete walls just south of the Lamington/NBRR confluence used to be?

Re: SMB
Waded the NBRR and Lamington around the Burnt Mills Bridge area yesterday midday. Lost count of the little guys I caught... only one of any size. I need to get my son-in-law's kayak out and do a float trip to find some deep holes.
