Re: Anyone Hit A No Kill Stretch This Weekend?

Hit the gorge on Friday. It was well stocked with trout and people. There seemed to be a person fishing every 10 feet from memorial rock on down.

Re: Gorge stocking

"It's filled with micronymphers! You are probably one of them. Are you fishing with small nymphs?" ~ Random person voicing displeasure in the parking lot last Friday morning. It is a beautiful place that can be fun to fish, but I limit my time spent there because it can get frustrating. I am also th...

Re: Gorge stocking

I heard they are no longer stocking the Gorge. They reallocated those trout to the Manville section of the Raritan.

Re: Stocking

Can't wait. More people on the water and all of the nice sized holders end up on a stringer. I'm going to go get me a fall stocker holdover this weekend. 6 months in the river on natural food should make them better table fare. I guess I'll have to start fishing the Manville section of the Ra...

Re: stuck in a rut

Confidence is key , but the bottom line is you got to go where the fish are , you always increase your chances when you go some where you know the population of trout is high. Yes that sounds simple , but it might be a factor . Very true! I learned to nymph at the KLG. Lots of hungry fish there mos...

stuck in a rut

Venting on a Monday morning. I have been skunked the last 3 times I was out, but was having a very good winter fishing season until then. Streamers, pheasants tails, stoneflies, and egg patterns had been working well and all of a sudden they were not. Maybe my technique has been off? Streams flows a...

Re: I Need Some New Waders

I am very happy with my pair of Redington sonic pros that I got them from back country during a 40% off sale. I try to support local as much as I can, but that was money I could not leave on the table.

Re: Round Valley Trout Association meeting 2/21/19:

Can we trust introducing a new species will have the intended outcome down the road? It often seems like we regret these things years later.

Re: Looking for Help

At least it didn't fly off into a deep pool in front of your face immediately after the line broke off. Then you would have to decide how much a new rod is worth to you.

Re: Next on your purchase list

I picked up a new 7 weight for my Labrador trip last year, so I'm all set for awhile as I really don't need anything. My next big purchase is a new rifle in .257 Roberts. I have the Leupold scope brand new in the box, so I just need a gun to mount it on. Figured no need to keep shooting a big magnu...

Re: Next on your purchase list

You did not give length or purpose nymph vs. dry or all around. Look at the Cortland Competition if you need a nymphing rod. I have had my eye on that one since I saw the winner of the one fly in 2017 use it. Shannons carries it if you want to check it out. About $250 if I remember correctly. Just ...

Next on your purchase list

Just trying to get a convo open - so I'll ask. What is your next purchase for the upcoming season? I need to pick up a new 4wt. My old one broke and is a discontinued model. The warranty still gave me the purchase price back, but I have to apply it to something else. My go-ins to test are St. Croix ...

Re: Edison Fly Fishing Show this weekend

This was my first one and I really enjoyed it. I spent a lot of time checking out equipment and talking with vendors. Thoughts: -Lots of man bun haircuts. -Hopefully I can find some seeds to plant a money tree. -Vedavoo was very helpful in talking with me on how to best set up a pack that was purcha...

I know they are finicky by nature, but I also wonder if they smarten up from every shithead throwing things at them all day or trying to snag them.
