That little stream has had natural reproducing browns for way over 50 years, FYI.
This guy knows whats up.

NJ has only 30-ish officially designated Wild Trout Streams but nearly 200 Trout Production streams.

Re: Brett's thoghts from Rangeley Sport Shop

With everything closed around us and people keeping their distance, nature, remains open for business! So get out there and go for a walk, hike, fishing or anything else that gets you outside and into from fresh (pollen laden) air.

Did anyone confront them first? I would have a hard time not calling them on their BS and cutting their stringer.

Re: Dry fly fishing

Winter fly fishing in Colorado can be some of the most peaceful times you’ll ever have on the water. There are very few anglers on the water the fish are still feeding and you have a chance at some true trophies. Colorado has always been known for its monster tail water trout, and this is the time ...

Re: WTS 1/30

Loss of suitable spawning habitat or trout magnets are other possibility for one species to vanish besides disease and panther martins. Thermal events is related to spawning as is numerous low water years. I feel targeted......... didnt you know, once a trout touches a soft plastic or a spinner bla...

Re: Tiger Trout

Nice job!!

Im the opposite spectrum of catching tigers, all of mine have been wild. I ave caught 3 in my time if I recall. Two from a WTS and one from the KLG which was the most surprising fish of the bunch. It was only about 5-6" so definitely a wild fish.

Re: WTS 1/30

Birds could do real number on a stream, but I don't see how they could lead to a wholesale collapse like the one you mentioned in NE NJ (the Q?) No not there. Most I have seen in Warren/Hunterdon streams. Tribs to larger rivers like Delaware, SBRR, Paulinskill and Musky as well as tribs to our rese...

Re: Who Uses a Net?

I only got a net after I got my *gasp* tenkara rod. I had John AKA Riversong Nets build me a custom one with a longer handler. This makes landing a fish when you dont have a reel much, much easier. I use it more and more lately when not fishing with the tenkara rod, which isnt often anymore, as the ...

Who Uses a Net?

Since the netting thread is evolving into a new thread about nets, how often do you use a net for trout? If you do or dont what is your reasoning behind it?

Re: R.I.P. Rick Ege (stonefly)

Yesterday I cleaned up the old Hardy reel Rick always joked about me having since I told him our different casting/rod preferences meant I never wanted to own one of his rods when he passed. Rick prefered a mid-flex rod and I like a faster tip flex rod. So I will fish his old Hardy Princess on my r...

Re: R.I.P. Rick Ege (stonefly)

Thank you for posting this, Brian. I first encountered Rick on the old school NJ Trout along with many of you. I find it amazing how many friendships these forums and the greater TU community have fostered. Not long after being introduced to TU Mike Rediger, Mr. MCR, myself and a few friends started...
