Re: bows

ah I see, yes im new to the scene. cant say it's cheating for me cause my stealth skills are LOW . These streams with hungrier but spookish fish help me improve that skill a lot. Some of us are more stealthier than others. Me, not so much, but I do use natural screens like trees or crawl o...

Re: bows

Fishing WTS is like cheating by WTS I mean any stream with wild trout not just the ones the state lists in the digest under "WTS". not sure what's cheating about it tho. Were you a long time njtrout and tristate trout member? The saying goes back to those times. WTS streams, whether in the digest o...

Re: bows

If someone recognizes the stream from a photograph of a rock or pool, then it's identity is already known. Remember DenisF use to post zoomed in google map of beaver ponds, now that was risking its location. It didn’t take long for me to PM DenisF a zoomed out screen shot of the location. He then st...

Re: WTS 1/30

Loss of suitable spawning habitat or trout magnets are other possibility for one species to vanish besides disease and panther martins. Thermal events is related to spawning as is numerous low water years. I feel targeted......... didnt you know, once a trout touches a soft plastic or a spinner bla...

Re: WTS 1/30

Birds could do real number on a stream, but I don't see how they could lead to a wholesale collapse like the one you mentioned in NE NJ (the Q?) No not there. Most I have seen in Warren/Hunterdon streams. Tribs to larger rivers like Delaware, SBRR, Paulinskill and Musky as well as tribs to our rese...

Re: WTS 1/30

One of the biggest challenges in NJ is finding accessible WTS water and winter with everything wide open is a good time to do so. Only a handful of WTS are 100% public - like VCB and Dunnfield - and those few get more attention for it. Never understood how no landowner-access agreements have been m...

I look to travel light, unless I am fishing salmon or steelhead, I usually leave the net behind.

Re: Trout Netting Replacement

Not trying to hijack or diminish your thread, just curious: how many people don't use a net at all? When my first one got worn out, I just never got a new one. Now I release all my fish in the water (as of late, at least; I hope no one can produce my infamous Gill Grab...). Fishing with a net is li...

Re: R.I.P. Rick Ege (stonefly)

Rick was always first to volunteer at TU events, always tying up a few stoneflies at the table. He couldn’t get around much because of his knees, but he talked of his many trips fishing. He was treasurer for the NJTU as well as RVTU for many years. Most of us know of his stocking efforts and may hav...

Happy New Year everyone, don’t forget your 2020 fishing license if you head out. In years past some had posted pictures with the previous years license visible. Good luck out there and stay off the icebergs when fishing (Tom RU listening? LOL)

It's almost over , but more importantly the days have started to get longer , just about 4 months till trout season in NJ gets into full swing
You can fish for trout year round, not on every stream, river or lake, but all year round in NJ.
