Re: Big D Smallmouth on the fly suggestions?

It was hot! I checked out the gap in the guardrail a cross from log cabin. Chained and posted. Parked no problem at the actual pullout by the paulinskill and walked down to the mouth. Great looking water and wadeable. Got one smallie on a streamer. It was small...may e 8 inches. Next time I may hike...

Re: Gotta return hone today

Yes, but up on the bluff on the opposite bank. It's a scramble down to the water

Re: Gotta return hone today

I like that stretch too. I recently found the approach from the other side. There's one marked pull off and another pull off closer to the game lands that I think is ok to use too.

The article doesn't mention penwell. Did that get hit with a swim flash mob?

Re: WMA closings

The one near Jaws with the limited selection makes great egg sandwiches. My hunting club house is in East Branch and i have relied on them for sustenance. Beaver kill campground restaurant down the road has fantastic burgers.

Sarcasm is hard to express. Wrong emoji perhaps. I'm all for closing water when it will help fish.

That's why there's no fly fishing in Montana, right? 🤔

Re: WMA closings

I agree. I stop before the end of June. I was expressing my exasperation at seeing cars and fishermen this time of year in the musky. Saw several today at the pt. Mnt. TCA.

Re: WMA closings

KLG is on the list. I was only using the M as an example. A few weeks with fewer people can only help any water.

What does restricted access mean, anyway?

Re: WMA closings

I am ok with this for two reasons.

One of those reasons is the people I still see fishing the musky. I support their right to do it, if they're hungry. I'd prefer letting the fish find shade and become a nice holdover for later.

Where in the Valley? I spent 4 years up there (95 - 99) and still have friends around Utica. I should have fished more while there, but damn those winters are rough!

Re: Big D spot burning

Headed back this morning and hit the WMA right above phillipsburg. Nice looking water, a bit of structure, and two fishing chasing something on the surface. I didn't catch anything but will head back, probably early tomorrow.

Cool. I thought so. I was looking at Google maps and guessing it was cool to check out, but always cautious too, especially being alone.

Re: Big D spot burning

I always used to target them from columbia to the water gap. I remember using a variety of dodgy cut outs to park along route 46 on the NJ side as well as from the PA side near arrow head island. Either way, you pretty much have to go through some prickers or a faint little trail down to the river....
