Re: Raritan river 10/26/18:

Yes, I can easily see that trout (and many others) ejecting themselves over the Headgates dam. Trout, especially Rainbow Trout have been known to swim down stream many miles and eject themselves like fly fishing fish over obstacles such as dams. Maybe this trout came from Shannon's, quite possible a...

Re: Raritan river 10/26/18:

So the water from Round Valley gets pumped in to the South Branch at Hamden road. That water goes into the Raritan river and is collected in South Bound Brook and turned into drinking water. So glad the Rahway river got a 4 mile extension on their spring stocking.

Re: Raritan river 10/23/18:

Maybe the trout should learn how to read. I do not understand the fall stocking as they stock just about the entire North and South branch and then come to a screeching halt at the Headgates dam. I'm sure it has nothing to do with water quality during fall stocking as the Raritan river is a combinat...

Re: Raritan river 10/23/18:

Some days viewing the recorded fish ladder video the water is off color from rain. Not all fish sit and smile for the camera, many go through on an angle and are hard to identify. Lamprey are native to New Jersey.

Re: Raritan river 10/23/18:

Like I said, I have been told by the higher ups at New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife that trout CAN NOT and WILL NOT hold over in the Raritan river due to the high water temps.

Re: Raritan river 10/23/18:

I am more curious about the trout seen swimming up river through the fish ladder in South Bound brook each spring. In 2005 200 trout were seen passing through the fish ladder at the Island Farm Fish Weir on the Raritan river.

Re: Not fall stocked:

Not one person complained when they threw Broun Trout in the Manasquan river for 20 years. Put them in the Raritan and they suddenly become food for Striped Bass, why is that ?

Re: Not fall stocked:

Yes. Last year some 40,000 (I think) small trout were stocked in Piscataway. I haven't heard anything for 2018. Those fish would only be able to swim up as far as Island Farm Fish Weir since the entrance to the fish ladder was slammed shut by New Jersey American Water back in August. With that being...

Re: The KLG

If it should be filled with trout due to "no kill" then why do they keep stocking MORE trout in there ?
