if anyone else is looking at these.... the sizing chart runs way big.
I am 6'3", 220 lbs, and was swimming in the XL, chest to toe.

Re: chest waders vs. pants
The Wadertek's arrived today. Very nice design and build, but the XL's are HUUUUGE. I have to return them, but there are no L's or LT's in stock anywhere. Spoke with Aquaz today, and they have nothing in stock... nothing expected to come in before end of September at earliest.

Re: chest waders vs. pants
thanks for turning me on to Aquaz. I am leaning towards the Wadertek at moment. Waffling a bit as I could get the LL Bean Kennebecs for almost nothing with my Bean Bucks, but really like the Wadertek design with the 4-layer going all the way up to the waist.

Re: chest waders vs. pants
Personally I would opt for waders, always nice to have that added length. That being said there are companies (Aquaz for example) that make convertible waders that drop down to almost the waist. I own a set of their waders and highly recommend them. Love the material and quality. Interesting you br...

Re: Rain doing any good?
2018 was the biggest change I had ever noted. The SBRR became a totally different river between Flanders and LV from summer of 2017 to spring of 2019.

if my basement sump pump is any indication, I'd say the water table got a bit of a boost the past 24 hours.

chest waders vs. pants
Time for new waders... just too many leaks to keep damming. I was going to buy some Frog Togg Hellbender pants anyway for an upcoming cast-n-blast trip to Maine as I wanted just some light waders for the very small streams I will be in up there, instead of lugging my old chest waders up. However, be...

Rain doing any good?
With as much rain as we have had, the rivers and streams around here at least, still seem very very low. This is only from driving past mainly, tho I did fish the lower SBRR and the main stem above Duke Island for smallmouth a week ago. Same everywhere?

Re: Musky
If you catch a 12-13 inch wild brookie on a 3 weight, it will definitely put a bend on the rod and you may have to put him on the reel instead of just stripping in like one of the smaller ones. Here is one of the better ones that I have caught-not fat, but pretty long and put up a decent fight. htt...

Re: Has anyone noticed a change from wild brookies to browns?
I love finding brookies hidden away here and there (i know of a little stretch of the Black River that holds some). And I applaud F&G trying their best to finally protect them, tho I think the C&R should be state-wide. I do tho' think we should be grateful to have as good a wild brown fishery as we ...

can't... pass... up.....
It definitely wasn't a fluke, as they are saltwater fish!
C'mon! I just said what everyone else was thinking! OK, no more "dad" jokes for the month for me...

Re: SBR 4-29
I caught 3 state stockies at the corner of Bartley and Naughright a few weeks back just before season opened. Way upstream of where the Brown trout managed section starts in LV. Somebody screwed something up.

Go to the deep hole right at the Bartley/Naughright intersection and you still can! Even tho' it is supposed to be Brown Trout Managed only water now.....

Re: LV/Flanders area SBRR
SO that begs the question... what is different now from 55 years ago, aside from me being 57 instead of 2?! It is generally undeveloped on its immediate banks from Rte 46 all the way down to Long Valley. I am sure there are a few "new" houses along the way but nothing too crazy like strip centers, i...

LV/Flanders area SBRR
Since moving from Randolph 3 years ago, I have not been out to this stretch of the SBRR more than a couple times. I maybe stopped in quickly twice last year for an hour total and remember getting a big wild brookie and a nice club brown up in the Elizabeth Lane area. I had more time recently to fish...

Re: Van Campens restoration project.
I may have missed it earlier., but can someone explain the scope of work being done? It is primarily deadfall cleanup in the stream and on the banks? There is no stream feature "restoration" planned is there?
