Re: Stuck ferrule
Finally, unstuck. Hair dryer on hot for about 5 minutes, into the freezer for 2 hours, behind the knee's pull and just when I was going to quit it popped.

Re: White Perch
Yes, best from the Manasquan south due to access. Best access is county parks along lower brackish stretches. The Toms, 7 bridges road in Tuckerton, Port Republic and south you cannot miss.

Re: Stuck ferrule
Tried that, also in the freezer for a while. Going to try some hair dryer heat followed by a bag of ice. I'm thinking with all the cork around it, the ferrule in the handle is insulated. If the dryer doesn't help, will soak it in some ice water.

Stuck ferrule
Have a Fenwick 4 piece pack rod from the late '60's that has traveled with me over the past 50 odd years. It's a convertible rod where the handle can be reversed or spin or fly fishing. Its stuck, cannot remove the rod section. Have tried the 4 methods I know with no luck, but this is a bit di...

Re: Spin fishing gear
I use my Fenwick F74-4 fly/spin combo hollow fiberglass rod with a Mitchell 308 and 4lb test. Have had this combo for many, many years for my travels. Best trout lure I've found is the Jakes lure, any one of them in the correct size.

Re: Fall Stripers
Only because they are in surf range. It was like this last year into January, but you had to be in a boat. Where the bait goes, so go the stripers.

Re: Fall Stripers
No end in sight. If you have never caught a striper, now is the time to try. Does not matter what you throw at them.

Shenandoah, some of the best Brookie fishing. Washington/Jefferson NF is another very nice spot, even fewer people.

Re: Any New Toys Purchased or Waiting on Delivery?
Let us know how quickly your CC is issued. I am holding off, but mainly because I seldom see trout big enough to be concerned for my life while out of the house working. When I do, I'll be packing some serious heat  It's not protection from trout I am concerned about  I live in a smal...

Re: Any New Toys Purchased or Waiting on Delivery?
Next purchase will be in the next month or so I will get a kayak. With foot pedals will fish out of it but need to get it ready and used to it so I can duck hunt with it My Son just did that, got a Hobie and rigged it out. As for me I'm about to order a solo canoe, the current one I have is getting...

Massive flooding in YNP
A friend runs this FB page, all entrances to YNP are closed and some evacuations are taking place. Have to wonder what the fishing will be afterwards.

Re: Gas prices $$$$$$$
It is time to start hypermiling again. On a trip to Maine when hypermiling was the thing, I was able to get 28mpg out of my Grand Cherokee, it has a screen that displays real time fuel mileage which is a big help. I just made reservations for Yellowstone next year and will be driving out, probably b...

Closures
IMO, they did not go far enough with the closures, they forgot about the 'in-river picnic' crowds.
