KLG 10/19/22

Took the day off last Wednesday to try my luck on the KLG. Not too many leaves on the water, which meant they're up in the trees :)

Nice flows, great foliage, and the trout were cooperative. Get out there if you can, fellas!

Re: R.I.P. - Jim Holland

I think a proper tribute to Jim would be renaming the one fly contest to the "Jim Holland Cup". Jim was the master of ceremonies at the contest and without him there would have been no contest. I would be happy to donate money for a trophy or plaque. This is up to the state council of TU but I real...

Re: Warm Water Alternatives

Pretty much any of the stocked streams that aren't designated "trout maintenance" will have populations of bass, sunnies, and the ever present fall fish. I too ain't much of a pond/lake guy. Don't have a watercraft and don't really have the patience to learn that game. Not to dismiss the OP's disin...

Bermuda...or NJ?

Hit a nice clear lake today with the inflatable kayak and my 3wt St. Croix rod outfitted with the remnants of a size 10 mouse fly. Tons of bluegill and sunfish, all caught on top water, some strikes being quite violent. So much fun. The kayak is great for lake fishing because you can access pretty m...

Re: Gas prices $$$$$$$

I tossed about 50 goldfish into a kiddie pool I still have from when my boys were very young. If you stand in it with your eyes closed and play a "whisper in the trees" online sound bit, it's kinda like being on the Big Flatbrook.

Re: Why No Temperature Closures?

We have two catch and release sections in NJ which means if the conditions (flow and temp) are not ideal for trout survival people should not be fishing. Yet, every summer, we see people fishing and catching/releasing trout destined for a raccoon dinner. Why doesn't NJ F&W close these sections of r...

Re: GST Fishing Camaraderie Day 5/22/22 @ the lower KLG

I, on the other hand, landed only a few compliments on my casting. The parking lot was full but it was nice to get out on the river and see the GST Webmaster, Tom Twism. I did catch a few of these little monsters from a pond I visited while my son was taking tennis lessons tonight. Felt good to hear...

Re: GST Fishing Camaraderie Day 5/22/22 @ the lower KLG

Hope you guys had a great time, just got back from Nashville and had to work They all got arrested for smoking weed in a WCA, and drinking beer on state property...all the bamboo rods were confiscated and are being sold for charity to drug and drinking programs... They all need to enter re-hab for ...

No matter the weather, its always good drinking weather! This is great. We're about a six-pack ...

Re: GST Fishing Camaraderie Day 5/22/22 @ the lower KLG

Hopefully we can get a confirmation that the lot is open. As we know, it’s busy on the slowest of days. I’m hopeful the cool nights will keep the temps fishable, but as Joe said, crazy we have to talk about this in May!! Unfortunately the temperature function for the gauge is off now. I have it on ...

Sulphurs are hatching. move this to the evening you boobs!!!!! Dries and bamboo are perfect together....maybe the water is too warm then??? I'm usually up for making things interesting, but I think I'll pass on standing in water holding a graphite rod during an afternoon/evening thunderstorm. https...

Re: GST Fishing Camaraderie Day 5/22/22 @ the lower KLG

Bump. The weekend will bring air temps in the 90s--with afternoon T-storms--but I plan on fishing the Lower KLG Sunday morning if the water temps are still under 67 degrees.

all it takes is a mere 150 feet away from the stocking point. thats a no go for some.
No doubt, couldn't agree more. As long as I'm ambulatory, I'm going to use it to my advantage.

Exactly. If anyone shows up to the GST Group Fishing Day with one of these repulsive chunks of grub, it's not gonna be pretty  Just kidding of course but I'd love to see the c/o ask wtf that thing is    If anyone knows where Five Maples is on the lower Musky, then you would want...
