Re: Water
Yep, no need for an early start with Carp. Always did my best back in the day late morning into the afternoon with spinning gear and corn. Should be interesting with fly gear this Summer. I've seen corn flies for sale, may pickup a few - LOL

Very nice. Many say they are ugly. I disagree. If you don't mind me asking where where you fishing, not exact location? I'm going to give them a try along with Pike this Summer in the Passaic.

Re: A huge wild brown...
I've fished it three times, no fish, however one trip I did come across a nine inch dead brown in the stream so there must be some in there.

Re: Fly box set up
95% of my fishing is with Tenkara rods, so I've gone super minimalist about five years ago. Learned I need very little of anything for a day on any stream/river. I use a small utility pack by Yakoda. I attached paracord so I can sling it around my shoulder, nippers, forceps, couple spools of tippet,...

Re: Snow
My understanding is NJ and surrounding states does not rely on snowpack for ground water like the western states. We need rain, if we get at least the norm for the next few months we should be OK for Spring.
