Re: Well the time has come

I moved up from a Folstaff that was too short to the long model as I'm 6' 1" and needed the longer staff. I don't use mine often, but sometimes I'm holding a stout survey rod for my river restoration work which is even longer and serves the exact same purpose. Man, we have a lot of old farts on this...

Praying that Jim pulls throw. Cancer sucks and Chemo can be almost as bad.
Yes on both! He's been fighting a good fight. I am 28 years out from chemo and radiation myself, and not a minute goes by that I am not reminded of that fact for any variety of reasons, mostly physical.

Re: Well the time has come

I use an old aluminum ski pole - saved me from lots of spills. Cheapest alternative there is and effective! That said, I have a Folstaff and keep it in my truck at all times. I first got a wading staff while working for TU when TU asked anglers to avoid felts for didymo reasons and go rubber. Rubbe...

Re: Shannon's sale on items over $100

Headed there next week now when I get back. Will buy a rod and reel. Better get there quick. I was there a couple of weeks ago, and was shocked how lacking of just about everything the store was. If I recall correctly there were maybe a half dozen fly rods. I was there yesterday and the fly rod wal...

Re: Musconetcong TCA - Penwell

Regarding the parking on Penwell, is there no parking at all in the lot on the side of the road, or do the boulders just restrict the number of cars that can park there There is a narrow road we call Faber Road after the Faber estate that left their land to the Division off Penwell Road. Take that ...

Re: Musconetcong TCA - Penwell

Thinking about hitting the Musconetcong TCA at Penwell this weekend - I haven't been there for several years, but it was decent back then. Anyone been there recently ? Worth going ? Thanks for any replies. The Point Mountain TCA holds fish year round and temps should be fine. Anglers are catching m...

Shannon's sale on items over $100

Shannon's is going through some tough times with Jim remaining in the hospital fighting cancer and issues from chemo treatments. They have new hours of 8am - 4pm and are selling any item over $100 for a 45% discount. Think rods, reels, waders, some wading boots, and Fish Pond vests. Please support t...

Re: Good temps low water

It has been fairly cool so far this late spring and now early summer. Nighttime temps often in the upper 40s to upper 50s here in the SBR headwaters which bodes well for trout fishing. But the rain they keep calling for seems more elusive as of late. We need both rain and cooler temps if we are to f...

Re: recommendation on a GREAT pair of wading boots

Chota's for sure - haven't replaced mine in a while but make me think i should start looking. I also picked up a pair of Simms fly weight boots for more remote hike in fishing in early spring, fall and winter and really like them. These days wet wading is the prime way to go. Simms wading shoe/sand...

Re: recommendation on a GREAT pair of wading boots

I actually like Cabela's lightweight studded felts. I have a pair of Korkers with the spiked studs, loved the soles and the grip but I had to glue them in place as they kept coming apart at bad times. Plus I just can't get over the boa lace system, great in theory, eliminating snagging laces and ty...

Re: recommendation on a GREAT pair of wading boots

I wear either Simms or Chotas. I find lost Korker soles almost every day I'm on the water, so no thanks. Love the idea, hate the execution. That said, be prepared to search the nation for a pair right now unless you have a weird size. I needed boots this spring and let's just say I am able to acces...

Re: recommendation on a GREAT pair of wading boots

As tittle states. Im looking for a light weight pair of wading boots. Interchangeable replacements souls would be awesome. I think someone on here mentions Korkers :?: . Which model would you guys recommend that is also light weight. The Simms G4's I have are to heavy for my taste. That Patagonia's...

Re: West Canada Creek

Just came back from fishing the West Canada this weekend. Good dry fly action from 4 until dusk with fish rising all around us for Light Cahills. The first day we saw 7 other people fly fishing which was concerning but the next day it was 1 and then he left. We had the river to ourselves which beli...

Re: brookies

When it comes to native brookes, wood is good! Nice catch and report. Seems since the no-kill was established on the Flatbrook that more brook trout have been caught up there the last couple of years.

Re: Isonychia

Nice LU. We had some Isos launching on the West Branch Delaware late last week as well, mixed with both sulphurs and some March Brown/Gray Fox and various caddis including black caddis. The Beaverkill and lower East Branch are already too warm to trout fish in. They have not had some of the rains we...

Re: Gas prices $$$$$$$

A nasty recession is on its way, and that will finally quell these prices as demand finally plummets. But when that happens is still a bit of a mystery. That said, I'm headed up to Dreamcatcher Lodge Thursday morning for a 4 day trip that I paid for last May, so other than a $175 fill up with regul...
