Re: All state and county parks closed!

How many deaths are attributable to poor diet, lack of exercise, cars, cigarettes, alcohol, etc. each year...tens of millions? Shouldn't we close McDonalds because their fries may cause cardiac disease?

Re: All state and county parks closed!

The numbers in Italy went UP after lockdown. Why? It spread amongst families stuck in their homes and Italy like Spain are countries where large families live together - kids, parents, grandparents, etc. One gets it, they all get it. There is no escape. Distance at home is also helpful. The less tim...

Re: All state and county parks closed!

I think we've reached a new level of ridiculousness by closing all parks. Yes lets all go in our backyards walk around the house a few times. That sounds like fun. 99% of those passing away couldn't walk up a flight of stairs without being out of breath so they are certainly not the ones out on the...

Re: social distancing on opening day ?

Many are NOT social distancing outside. I see most trailhead parking lots full like in the DWGNRA, Hacklebarney and numerous trails in Sussex, Morris and Warren. I'm afraid all these idiots will lead to all parks being closed which means we cant fish. You cant exactly distance yourself along Dunnfie...

Re: Nice large brookie...

That's a nice plump looking brookie! He looks well fed-possibly from a fertile spring fed creek and not a mountain freestone? Actually it was a very popular NW NJ stream. Got another one about 10". Overall numbers for this creek were still low IMO. Some dandy pools just empty. I did see a merganser...

Maybe, just maybe if you pinch the tail you can call that 10.5 inches, but it is a very nice Brookie regardless.
The streambed is not flat so its not a level measuring "board". lol

Another brookie fest

Self quarantined along another trout steam. If the last two trips are any indication, the fishing will be tremendous this year....at least in Pa. it would suck if the closed the border. Lol. Some of the brookies were pushing 11”.

Pa Brookie day

Felt like one of the good old days. Trout after trout for hrs. At least for this stream Id say the brookies are doing great. I did have to park and walk three miles to find it but you do what you have to get alone time.

Re: Public Meeting on Trout Stocking Program February 29

I think Merrill is bottom release (into Merrill Creek)and RV(into SB Rockaway Creek and Prescott Brook). Spruce has both as far as I know. I think most of the larger ones have over the top flows for when they are at full/normal capacity and bottom release for draining purposes or low capacity levels...

Re: Public Meeting on Trout Stocking Program February 29

I'm all for tree planting. The Raritan river either has huge 200 year old trees or nothing it seems. I think in those areas the soil is more easily eroded way. More red shale. or whatever that rock is called. The trees get more easily uprooted. I think farming practices in that art of the state con...

Re: bows

I remember on the old forum how guys would get so defensive about fly vs spinner. It was like a guy using a spinner left a trail of dead fish floating down river. It was so over the top. They would sound like how the liberals talk about our President now. They take his words and spin them into somet...

Re: Public Meeting on Trout Stocking Program February 29

I don't know if the state had the power to step in and stop the restoration of Ledell's Pond on the upper Passaic and the Lake Solitude Dam on the SBRR. Seems like historic structures can't be removed which is silly. I mean if you are partially or completely rebuilding them, how are they still histo...

Re: bows

If someone recognizes the stream from a photograph of a rock or pool, then it's identity is already known. {/quote] They are all known and no stream ever goes unfished. Its about drawing attention to a place that would not see a lot of attention if not for being labeled as "special" and anglers tal...
