Better get there quick. I was there a couple of weeks ago, and was shocked how lacking of just about everything the store was. If I recall correctly there were maybe a half dozen fly rods.

Re: Well the time has come
BFB is not bad, don't need it. I use it when I visit the Gorge and parts of the Musky. Neversink in NY Unique area is about as bad as it gets, don't bother wading if you don't have a sturdy staff. West Branch if flows are high but wadable.

Re: Well the time has come
Yep, depending on the river I also use one. I made my own from an Ash rake handle, little heavy, however it will support a building, and take one hell of a beating. I put a t-section on the top for added support, also helps grabbing branches to free a fly. Tennis racket tape for a sure grip.

Not a fan of Korkers. Been using Chota boots, no complaints.

Re: brookies
When it comes to native brookes, wood is good! Nice catch and report. Seems since the no-kill was established on the Flatbrook that more brook trout have been caught up there the last couple of years. yes. it has a nice sustainable population. I caught a couple last week on the lower section, assum...

Re: Gas prices $$$$$$$
I got back Sunday after spending a few days on the Beaverkill and Willow. Filled up in Roscoe at $4.89 for regular. I'll make one or two additional trips between now and October.
Warm water species are loads of fun on Tenkara rods.

Slightly stained gives the fisherman an advantage, which never hurts.

Best of luck to you all. I won't be there, worked outside all day yesterday, can't take another day of heat, humidity and bugs.

It's no longer fly only, all no kill stretches are artificial only, and yes if following the regulations.

Re: Bugs
Was out yesterday, primarily small tan caddis. All trout taken were subsurface, one or two occasional rises, briefly switched to a dry caddis with no takers.

Re: Took a walk
The path is beaten well, people are just lazy, was all by myself on a beautiful day in a very popular stretch of river....Walked past all of the over fished and full spots on my way. I am happy people are lazy for once. ;) The path can be well beaten but still be off the beaten path. They need not ...

Re: GST Fishing Camaraderie Day 5/22/22 @ the lower KLG
I added to my calendar. I'll try my best to be there, would be nice to meet you all in person. One concern, doesn't that lot only hold a dozen or so vehicles? Is there alternative parking? I only hit the Gorge during the winter months. Rumor has it if you don't camp out over night in May, good luck...

Re: Hoffman's Crossing Bridge
Sorry to hear about the loss of access. Isn't the bridge right there bordering the property. State most likely throws them off the bridge, if they didn't they will now.
Good thing I only fish the KLG in the winter months if I go.

Re: who's fishing opening day ?
I pass streams driving to work, saw a lot of empty stringers walking around. :D There are definitely places on rivers that you can catch fish. But that will take skills like reading the water to know where they will be hanging out at. Most of the opening day warriors will have no clue thou  :l...
