Re: Annual West Branch Delaware trip early May

Rusty...How was the fishing? Will be heading up this month, just not sure when, may need to travel for work. It was tough all of last week due to high flows and cold water. The Beaverkill finally got above 50 F for several days and the Hendricksons poured off each day, but the trout never rose or s...

Re: Lamington River Pottersville-Bedminster

I am from that area. It is kind of the transition between trout water and smallie water-yes there are lots of chubs too. There are wild trout, but not super high density from what I can tell. There are several brooks with wild trout that enter into the river in that area. I have caught some big wil...

Is it all fly fishing only?
No, New Jersey no longer has fly only stretches anywhere in the state. It is a No-Kill section. No bait.

Re: SBRR wild browns marking coloration

1) that brown is 110% from the Musky Trout Hatchery. All browns from that hatchery look identical. 2) there are four clubs along the SBR and all stock trout from Musky Trout Hatchery with approved Division stocking permits. 3) while the Hackettstown state hatchery is now warmwater save for growing l...

Or, go out on your lawn and practice like everyone did in the old days !! Which is exactly where I learned all of my bad habits! :D Save yourself a lot of aggravation and have someone skilled show you. It could be a friend, a guide, or a TU group, but don't just flail around or you will likely lear...

Re: This tick rolls with a posse!! WTF?!

The DEP has actually gone door to door where this outbreak has occurred to warn folks and to see who has Lyme's disease in that area that might have come from this foreign tick they just found late last year before winter.

Re: Annual West Branch Delaware trip early May

Bringing the sit on top fishing kayak to fish the West Branch. Beamoc should be wadeable soon or by Wednesday at the latest. Floating in drift boats Thursday and Friday. Either way, an 18th annual trip with 20 good buddies will be an excellent time even if I forget my rod, reel and waders.

Air temps have been pin-balling all over the place lately (we may see high 80s later this week), but has anyone noted water temps?

Musky was 58.3 F when I checked Saturday afternoon.

I've seen Pequest bows much darker than even that. It's just normal color variation.

Hey hey. Roy B, aka PortMurrayAng, here. Originally from Morristown I have been fishing since I could walk well enough to follow my grandfather to the Whippany River or up to Lake Hopatcong. I started fly fishing in 1992 when I was a sophomore in high school. Now I can usually be found on the Musky...

Can someone help identify what these insects are? They were all over the shoreline of the Delaware river on Sunday. I didn't notice them on the water but the covered the shoreline. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bh6nuBKn2di/?taken-by=njcatchrelease They are dark grannoms - caddisflies - Brachycentrus ...

Great to see some old, familiar faces! Hooli, your fishing days will come back, but you're in the diaper changing mode for a few years so enjoy it while you can because before you know it, your kid will be working for Bacala and then headed off to college! :) I'm Brian Cowden, co-owner of Trout Scap...

Re: Bass Topwater

I'm looking to spend a lot of time this summer chasing bass and pike with my fly rod. For some reason I have only used my fly rod for trout and whenever I would take my kayak out for bass and pike I would only bring my spin gear. Gonna change that this year! You'll want something bigger than a 4 or...

This long winter has me thinking of one thing; bass crushing topwater at night! One of my favorite ways to fish is for largemouth at night on topwater plugs! There is nothing better than the silence and darkness of night interrupted by the crashing sound of a big bass gulping down your lure at nigh...
