Re: SBRR wild browns marking coloration

So, here is a wild trout from the SBRR... notice the red halo around the adipose fin, and the red line along the bottom of the tail fin. The spots are pretty "normal" for a brownie. The fish posted in the picture looks like a stockie from the Hackettstown hatchery...they are very distinct in appeara...

Re: SBRR wild browns marking coloration

Looks tiger like, yes, but with all due respect, I don't think that's a wild fish. Look at the front fin, it is worn down to nub. Unless there is something I am not seeing. ;)

Re: Pike on a Fly

i would use wire, just not to take any chances ...I have spin fished in Canada, not targeting pike, if you accidentally hooked one the rig was gone..so we fished walleye and smallies with thin wire and had no issues. it even worked on smallies top-water. But that was in my slummin' days... :D

YOUTUBE...you can learn anything there, I fixed my dryer from a video, and learned a couple of songs on the guitar, and how to weave a basket, and tie knots, and many useful useless things...

just slow down a bit, wait to feel the rod load, and false cast as little as possible.... :D

Re: Help Identify This

On several occasions in the Catskills around Memorial Day I've seen masses of bugs flying upstream which I assume are caddis. Never see them on the water and wonder what they are and where they are going. Yes, they probably are caddis and they fly upstream, because some of them deposit their eggs i...

Re: Introductions!

hat creek that you shouldn't be talking about on the internet isn't doing so well, the trouts are disappearing. I work in a neighborhood restaurant and know many landowners that have that creek run through their property, some fish some don't, but the word is the trout numbers are significantly dow...

I am originally from northern Hunterdon country. First went fishing dad and and twin brother for Mackerel in Bar Harbour Maine when we were th...

Re: Introductions!

You probably have read some of my idiotic posts on another forum. I promise to behave here....I live in Glen Gardner NJ, have been fishing since I was young, fly fishing for about 10 years, I tie mediocre flies that can catch fish and fish all year round, mostly in the KLG and a little crick by my h...

Re: South Branch 4/19

Scud...freshwater shrimp, they come in lots of colors and sizes and the SBR has loads of them, also could have been midge larvae, but if the looked like shrimp more than tiny worms with bigger head they were probably scuds.....buy a fly rod, get some scud imitations and have fun!!! Just my guess..;)...
