We should all donate from our water bill and have the water companies pump water into streams. Im sure theres a fire hydrant or two at each headwater that can be cracked open.

Nice fish, tough stuff when the whole hole gets spooked after the first fish. I can definitely relate.

Re: Fall 2020 trout Stocking?
No changes. Fall stocking is simple compared to spring stockings. It's a one and done for Division staff per river. And our rivers are likely very low on stocked rainbows after this hot, dry summer. The KLG will get pounded soon if not already, but the average angler likely doesn't know it hit uppe...

Fall 2020 trout Stocking?
With October on the way, my mind is getting trouty
We saw changes to this year's spring stocking, I wonder if there will be any similar changes, or if any at all.
Anyone have any intel on the trout stocking this fall? I havent heard anything yet myself.

Re: Water Access Points Map
Nice! Most of these I had already pinpointed on my map :D mine is a complete mess though, a giant blob of pinpoints. Id wish the site already had this. The spots they list are generally the most obvious spots to begin with, but a few of them actually arent fished often and less well known despite be...

Yep that came to mind too. I gotta watch out for my favorite creek alongside the local wally worldRusty Spinner wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 10:43 am
Don't forget roofs. Same issue as asphalt roads. Any impervious surfaces act to increase velocity of storm water while at the same time super-heating that stormwater.

Re: WMA closings
reading about it online, it looks like boat ramps and parking lots are completely closed / barricaded .PortMurrayAng wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 5:27 pmKLG is on the list. I was only using the M as an example. A few weeks with fewer people can only help any water.
What does restricted access mean, anyway?

Boiled trout
Any know how stockies taste if you boil them? Asking for a friend (who is a racoon) This one didn't make it, I found him like this ; looks like he boiled in the warm, shallow water of the upper NB. Back in 2018, mid-july, I actually caught rainbow in this stretch. This evening I was catching dink sm...

Re: Cut-off temp for summer trout?
Welcome to the forum. 68F is the most accepted temperature to stop fishing at because once the temps starting climbing and hit 68, 70 isnt far behind. The weather for the next 10 days is not looking good for trout. nope. i wonder if these downpours and scattered storms are helping too. I imagine th...

Re: Water Temps
On USGS you can customize the table. Below link shows Temperature as one of the columns, and you can see which gage has temperature recordings. I also included Gage height/streamflow. https://waterdata.usgs.gov/nj/nwis/current?index_pmcode_STATION_NM=1&index_pmcode_DATETIME=2&index_pmcode_00060=3&in...

Re: Better fishing on the no frill brand water now
Maybe it has something to do with the makeshift stocking schedules. Dont quote me on this- i thought they stopped or limited the in-season stockings. I think i heard otherwise tho. if we're doing the "where am I" thing again; Ive Studdied this spot for a long time... and know exactly where this is ;)

browns before the big warmup
transitioning to warm-water species with these high (and consistent) temps rolling through. So probably my last trout adventure until fall. Caught a nice # of brownies in the raritan watershed, here were the two better ones. https://i.postimg.cc/Bb7q6wVS/0511201738-2.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/KvVGhwT...

Re: Guess the river & area. Then claim your prize
Are they for wet wading in your wading boots? like neoprene socks? i mean in no way do they look like they'll keep your feet dry, if they do that''s incredible. But it looks like they are meant to keep your feet comfortable wet wading; i guess from gravel/sand while in ur boot. i'll have to try em ...
