Re: Vest or waist-pack? (And what about the net?)

I have a waist pack that I almost never use however when I did I find it hold way more than enough stuff. Over all my years of fishing I have realized that I used to carry way too much crap with me. For the most part you need some tippet, spare leader, a few good flys and a few tools. My waders now ...

Re: Introductions!

Late to the party. I am Bubba Zinetti. I am an 18 year veteran of NJ, and a long time member of NJTrout. It is nice to be back. My wife and I fish in NJ and we make trips yearly to Ireland and to "Out West" This year we are spending 2 weeks in Colorado. It is nice to have the forum back, Thanks Tom...

Re: Late spring - summer fly fishing

Also if it does get too warm for trout casting dry flys at a local pond for sunnies is always fun and good way to hone your casting and hook setting skills!

Re: Pike on a Fly

Tiable wire for sure. I think it will prevent other species from striking, but when after toothy critters it's a must! (Mono is akin to taking a knife to a gun fight IMHO) Mono and pike/pickerel is a quick way to lose that battle. The pickerel at my lake in PA cost me way too many lures each year.....

Re: Hacklebarney WTS

It is crazy how those little guys can jump. I have seen them navigating up the Buttermilk Falls in India Brook. I couldn't believe what I was seeing  Now thats impressive! Thats a good 15' with a decent flow of water. I guess the amount of water is key and that its not a straight drop. Not a...

Re: Hacklebarney WTS

Very interesting. Ive actually caught some decent sized browns in RB (for its size of course). Ive never caught anything but brookies in TB but right above the foot bridges is that falls Rusty mentioned.

Re: Finally Nice Weather and Nice Trout

That is actually a nice looking fish. Rusty or anyone else that may know, hare the rainbows holding over in the new catch and reelease area on the flatbrook. One of the fisheries biologists is using PIT tags to monitor stocked rainbow survival and distribution in the Flat Brook. Next time I see him...

Re: Recommend some flies

I was going to jump in but looks like everyone has this covered! The one I will add is the zug bug! I always liked fishing a #12 bead head Hares Ear with a #14/16 Zug Bug behind it (with or without the bead). Good nymphing combo, especially for those stockies!

My First Land Locked Salmon?

Caught this guy at Seneca Lake today (finger lakes of NY). I was just messing around off a dock with a bunch of fish under it and this one grabbed my jig. So I'm wondering if this is my first LLS?

Proper Catch & Release

A nice article on proper catch & release tactics. https://www.fieldandstream.com/blogs/fishing/2010/06/deeter-dont-be-catch-and-release-killer Most of us on GST try not to be preachy but when it comes to proper fish pics, the best way to get flamed out on a forum is to post a pic of fish that's been...

Re: Casting lesson

I guess what I'm getting at is... do you I show up at a fly shop with this and they take me seriously. Tell me if I'm out of line for thinking this way. As long as you plan to take the lesson and learning to fly fish seriously they will not care what gear you show up with. We are started with some ...
