Re: India Brook mischeif
What you are seeing are multiple violations. I know the town of Mendham (Twp., not Borough) is on it this morning. So is Raritan Headwaters and TU. But I have yet to hear from DEP Enforcement which has me concerned as they have not seen any photos and I have no idea if they've been on site yet. Thi...

India Brook mischeif
Taken from a thread from NJF, https://www.njfishing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=110481 "B.C. got a call from one of our members that was hiking along India Brook in Mendham Twp. earlier today. He came across what is clearly an illegal diversion in a C-1 wild trout stream. I took these photos and oth...

Re: Wader recomendations
I'm not sure any company manufactures a decent bootfoot wader. They are all 100% crap IMO. There is a reason that they are cheap and nobody except the most casual angler buys them in the last 20 + years. Go stocking foot with wading boots and all that uncomfortableness will be gone and the rubber b...

Re: Wader recomendations
My last pair got cracks in the rubber boots. No matter what I did with shoe glue / shoe gloo it wouldn't stop leaks. What I did, because they were small leaks, was were heavy duty trash bags over my pants, then slipped my legs into the waders. The cold water would never get to my wool socks/sweat pa...

Are we nearing drought conditions? Kind of stinks. Makes you wish for a hurricane to pass through ...maybe just the remnants of one

My great uncle, Orland Bartholomew, worked as a stream gauger for USGS in California his entire career. His son, still alive today, is a retired CA fisheries biologist. I learned a lot from them when I was a younger man.

Re: Stream Assessments
I saw a few government employees this morning standing in Spruce Run Creek with a line over it and a line hanging in the water by the flood gauge...anything to do with this or is this the USGS monitoring their gauges? That is how they calibrate their gauges. When you see a red "star" on a readout, ...

Welcome, Garret (if your reading)Rusty Spinner wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2019 9:39 amSomewhat off topic - The Division just hired a great new fisheries biologist, Garret Kratina. He was a seasonal employee here in NJ this summer for TU. They have added a few new biologists the last few years as retirements have cropped up.

Re: Natirar smallmouth fishing
I go there sometimes. Ive seen trout in there just last month, probably not worth the effort to target them with the nice smb population to target instead. TOo bad the ravine lake dam spillway is private property too. I bet there's some nice fish there. I like to fish the other parts of the upper no...

First Brook trout
A friend and I were able to hook and land out first wild brook trout. With some simple research, we found a stream that exclusively supports brook trout. While we had some hit and nibble at the jigs with 1 inch grubs, the few brookies we hooked came on very tiny 1/80th oz jigs with some black marabo...

Raritan main stem tributary trout. holdovers?
Unexpectedly Caught two nice rainbows in middle brook (main stem middle brook). About 2000 ft upstream from confluence with main stem Raritan. It's stocked in the spring up in East Branch. However only fall stocking would be 9 miles upstream the raritan in n/s branches. Holdover? Or Stocked trout fr...

Re: Black River Road
I heard from a local while fishing around about "j+j Johnson" too , and to take those flint hill preserve signs seriously cause they can be defensive. I was able to stay away from those signs, the township owns some land on the black river, look for those signs that say "no hunting but fishing with ...
