Re: Andy B

Yup, Andy's a good guy. Last I spoke/corresponded with him he was living in the central Burlington Co. area, Rancocas Creek drainage, but that's been a number of years ago too. Hopefully he's still lurking around these sites and might decide to pop up and post since much of the B.S. that had been oc...

Re: Trees, trees and moe trees....

I'm not able to see the pics either. That aside it's no surprise, albeit very saddening, that most of the old hemlocks are succumbing to the impacts of the wooly adelgids. I have seen many young hemlocks sprouting in areas where the old trees have fallen which is encouraging, however it remains to b...

Re: Connetquot Brook Trout and Toms River

There's one other small caveat to the thought of reviving that plan. They presently have no brook trout in the Connie hatchery, so the only way to obtain any of that particular strain would be to recover some from the river itself which we know they would never allow. Still, it would be nice if some...

Re: Winter trout stocking:

I understand stocking ponds in southern Jersey. But don't get why northern ponds do when there's prime trout streams just next door. Might be a matter of access for handicapped/older anglers. Just a guess. Quite true Bigger. Also not everyone likes or prefers stream angling for trout. Personally I ...

Re: Big Flatbrook 11/1

The stretch got poached and otherwise abused very hard when it was FFO. The C.O.'s very often caught fly anglers with bait on their hooks as well as guys spin fishing with both lures and bait. Also there were many cases of 'over the limit' fly guys caught through the stretch. One's perceptions will ...

So it appears they haven't done any more work on the dam since early Oct. Columbia 1.JPG Columbia 3.JPG I would suspect permits are dictating what and when they are allowed to do things. Do something out of the timeframe the permits allows and they would get a warning from the State of NJ, DEP. It ...

Re: Cold Temp Fishing

It's nice to see that private stockings are helping at least in some small way to fill the species void left by the state's present rainbows only stocking regimen. Nice fish!

Re: Raritan river 11/9/18:

And we can't even get fall stocking, go figure. Why won’t they stock that stretch in the fall?! It looks like perfect water to hold the stockies all winter. No one knows, try and ask f&g but only real reason is that there isnt enough stocked trout to go around in the fall, despite plenty of lil pon...

Re: Raritan river 10/26/18:

Yes, I can easily see that trout (and many others) ejecting themselves over the Headgates dam. Trout, especially Rainbow Trout have been known to swim down stream many miles and eject themselves like fly fishing fish over obstacles such as dams. Maybe this trout came from Shannon's, quite possible ...

Re: Late Weekend Report

Nice job on the flatties and sea bass! If I had my 'druthers' I'd take the bass over the fluke for table fare any day!! Kudos to the captain for putting you all on the fish despite the lack of a drift! Clearly that gent knows his angling areas.

Late Weekend Report

Apologies for the tardy post. Hit a section of the Flatbrook on Sat with a friend. We managed to land 3 'bows and a brown each. I also landed 2 decent smallies. Sun was a trip up to the WBD with a buddy and his 2 sons. Plenty of 'bows and browns landed from 12 to 20 inches. Glad the water had finall...

Re: Columbia Dam removal

The Paulina Dam just above Blairstown is also set to be removed. The only remaining dam will be Paulinskill Lake Dam. That's not going anywhere - too many private residences. There are numerous smaller dams on tribs but I'm not counting those including one on Pond Brook in Middleville which creates...

Re: Big Flat Brook

I have fished the fly only ( Now No Kill) area of the Flat Brook for many years and this was a first. Caught a Golden trout about 11 inches in the catch and release area.I know of clubs closer to the Delaware but unaware of any above 206. Highly unlikely it made up from the lower river. Why so? Wit...
