Re: WTS 5/3/2020

This has me confused...do trout not take around 80% of their diet below the surface (i.e., not dry flies)? That seems to be the conventional wisdom. The second best advice I received from a guide, shop owner, former member of F&W in his state was, "the majority of what a trout eats is 3/8th of an i...

To dry fly fish or to nymph fish, it does not matter. We all know Tenkara fishing is cheating, dry or wet.

Wet wading is like cheating My dad was wearing neoprenes yesterday, also originally had a sweater on. But took that off soon. Even with leaky boots, he sweat a bunch. Was pretty warm with my breathables too. When water is chilly but air is hot, i like to wear a sweater so that while i have cold leg...

Re: harvesting trout ?

While this is the reason for the outbreak or not, this is scary:

Re: harvesting trout ?

Anyone find it scary that food processing and handling procedures do not already have precautions in place to eliminate the transference disease from humans to food and therefore humans to humans?

I hear that stocked trout are like Doritos, harvest all the trout you like, they will make more.

WTF is windmill cancer?
I have it on good authority, "the best authority, everyone says so", that windmill noise causes cancer. It is not Ancraophobia, also known as anemophobia, but rather my fondness of windmills that exposed me to its cancerous affects.

NJ Angler will be happy though, the state parks are open and it might cull a few more of us that are diabetic, asthmatic, fat, out of shape, cancer survivor, or generally genetic weakling. The kind of people he said reap what they sow.
I am a survivor of Windmill Cancer. Is that a risk factor?

Re: State parks to open 5/2/20

The Gorge has been very busy, with anglers and walkers, hikers, etc. and the stretch between Hoffman’s Crossing and Califon has the most anglers I have seen in all my years in this area. The opening of the State Parks is a good thing, but if you think the timing is dumb, I guess you can ignore the o...

Re: SBR on Shannons stretch

There are about 3 fish in the SBR at KLG, since it is a no kill area, everyone is catching the same 3 trout, releasing, rinse and repeat. You might as well go to other rivers.

Re: All state and county parks closed!

It sucks, but I understand the reasoning. It is easier to manage a closed park/trail, than to deploy resources with 6 foot measuring sticks and issue summonses that will be fought in our courts. I will not argue it is the right thing to do, just that I understand the thinking.

Re: All state and county parks closed!

I think we've reached a new level of ridiculousness by closing all parks. Yes lets all go in our backyards walk around the house a few times. That sounds like fun. 99% of those passing away couldn't walk up a flight of stairs without being out of breath so they are certainly not the ones out on the...

Re: Is Facebook Killing Trout?

The average angler will kill a lot of trout, if not destined for the freezer, then sometime after their hero shot. Most people do not know and as some polite comments are taken the wrong way, maybe it is best to invite them to forums like GST or ask them to join a TU chapter. Through indirect learni...

That is one of my concerns. Will fisherman get greedy in the beginning and impact the later months?
If anglers are out there to bring h9me their limit every time they fish, I would call them greedy. Who wants to eat a small 9 inch stocked trout anyway?
