Sulphurs...right on time
Went to the musky and threw some sulphurs. Fish were on them right quick. Snowshoe emerger and a dry did the trick, both size 14. Got fairly active around 4:30. I stayed an hour and I think it was getting better. Tomorrow I'll stay a bit longer.

How difficult is it to get a Turkey permit? I'm guessing it's too late unless I see one in the yard.

Re: 4/15
It's the same fly in all 3. I thought match brown, too. It led me to another question.
Do flies start hatching in tribs earlier than on the rivers they flow into?

Re: All state and county parks closed!
There is very little if any enforcement at point mountain. Dudes are straight up picnicking in the road in chairs. In front of the closed sign. There have been numerous cars, everyday.

Re: Shad Fishing
No Streamers? Krouzers (sp?) These fish are alluring. I read McPhee's book too. Fascinating stuff. Sounds like a boat is helpful, but, maybe next year, I'm hitting it up from the bank. I know a lot of anglers use shad spoons as well as darts. Pink always seems to be the hot color for any flies or lu...

Re: Another Access Question
I lived across the street from there for 10 years. It's a good stretch and at times an unbelievable spot for hatches. There were off years too. The landscape has changed literally as well. I have not fished it for two years from over use and moving, but I still recommend the fishing there.

Re: Access question
Thanks Rusty. That's what I always thought. I posted the signs along part of the musky and got into a conversation with a guy about it. Just wanted to be clear (and right) ;) "No. In NJ, the landowners own the bottom of the river's bed, so you cannot trespass. It is not the same as wading the West B...

Re: Access question
Thanks all but I mean the river. Wading from one stocked bridge down through and to, without stepping on dry ground, the the bridge below. The musky is what I'm thinking of. Below Pt mnt TCA are several bridges with stretches that go through private property. Conceivably one could wade down to Narni...

Access question
I am sure this has been discussed before, so forgive me if this has been covered. Here is the hypothetical: I am fishing between two bridges, lets say a quarter mile apart. Each bridge is posted as stocked water. Is the whole stretch wadeable between the bridges? If yellow Posted signs are along the...

Good hatch and rising trout
Bounced around a bit today and after seeing good numbers of stones in the water and the air, I finally found rising fish. The took a quill, but I'm almost certain he thought it was a stone fly.

Re: Blue Quill
Yes, big. I am not great at identifying sizes, or flies really, but I'm tying some up now 14 - 12. Sunday looks warm so maybe they'll start looking up.

Blue Quill
Saw a few BIG blue quill flying around among the stone flies yesterday afternoon on the musky. The fish were still keen on the LBS. I lost one after it threw the fly, only to catch it on the next cast in the same spot. No rising fish yet, but great afternoon to be out.
