Re: Opening day 2022 washout

Should be a nice day to hit some brookie streams. That is my normal go to if i hit something on opening day. I have a new rod or two break in.

Re: How many flies do you fish on a nymph rig

I have fished so little in the last 8 years since my kids were born and when i can make it out it is going to be for dry fly fishing but when i do nymph it is with two flys. I even bought a 10' nymphing rod this year.

Re: Fly fishing show??

I got an email from Robert Bolt (bamboo rod maker) that him and Marc Aroner were not attending as originally planned. I don't know Marc, but Bob is in his 60's and i have to assume that is why. Will there be a mask requirement, i was thinking about going but i am not wearing a mask all day.

Spawning

Anyone have a guess if this rain will have a detrimental affect on spawning.

Thanks to Shannons and all their donors that make this happen.

Keep people crowding the SBR and leave the other waters open for me!
I used to love fishing on river road. All i did was walk away from the people and i fished alone. People didn't like to leave the parking spot.

Man that is a beautiful fish. Any chance the LLS are reproducing yet?
I think the closest reproducing landlocked are going to be the upper neversink. Not sure how much they actually reproduce but I have read there is some.

Re: Franklin pond creek

I read that report. I was curious as you walk upstream what was there. It is listed as having reproducing browns and brookies. Not sure it is worth my time.

Re: Handling Trout for C&R

You've probably seen some variation on this: The guy cranks in a nice fish, then proceeds to handle it (plenty) with dry hands. (Guess he intended to keep those hip waders he was wearing dry for the duration.) Guy then tosses the fish back into the current and takes out a rag to wipe the slime off ...

The hendrickson hatch was on Sunday on the Broadhead. . If it's happening there it should definitely be happening in Jersey .

Consider easy access to health care and transportation as you age. I'm considering the Asheville, NC area when my time comes.
. My father just moved out. I would look into TN before that area. More of everything and a functioning economy in TN

Re: Questions about Wild Brookie Streams (Dunnfield, Trout Brook, etc.)

Speaking of dunfield, it is my favorite nj wts. Get away from the people and the higher you go the better the fishing. Most people don't want to scout and especially hike.

Re: New Member: Euro Nymphing Equipment Advice

Thank you everyone. I am thinking a 3 weight 10'6 to 11'. And I agree that I will be using this for indicator fishing as well. . I picked up a t and t contact 2 over the winter. It is a 10' 3wt. I usually fish bamboo but when I have to really nymph they are not the right tool. That being said the o...

Re: Pequannock newark watershed stretch

I am off this week. I scouted it last night. Saw some risers.i am going to try and talk to the office this week. I will post the updates as long as they don't give away too much. 😉. In all seriousness, that is why I always thought the site should be private unless logged in.

Re: Pequannock newark watershed stretch

Thanks guys, I am extremely familiar with the public water, I practically live on it. I want to know more about the part on the watershed property you need a permit to access. Not sure if there is legit access or not or even parking for that matter. The wts area from smokerise down to the 287 bridge...

Pequannock newark watershed stretch

Looking for any good info on this stretch. Mainly parking and access. Any tips would be appreciated. I live in smoke rise in kinnelon and the wts stretch on 23 is pretty void of trout at this point. The last electrofishing results I saw pretty much backed that up. With a 7 and 4 year old I need to b...

Re: Exploring an Afternoon on the Black River 2/5/2021

It was always borderline water meaning a few wild browns were caught from time to time. I imagine that dam upriver does not help the situation.
