Re: Water Temps?
Had 48 degrees at 9:00am on 2018-05-01 on one of the northern NJ rivers. Didn't take a reading later in the day but I am sure it came up.

Re: On the River 2018-05-01
Beautiful pics and nice Trout. Looking at the make up of the stream bed from the pics I can guess at the stream but will refrain. ;) It was a great day on the river. Saw a few fisherman parked in other areas as I was driving but I did not see another person the entire time I fished. Lots of fish......

On the River 2018-05-01
I was lucky enough to have the day off on May 1st and enjoy the awesome weather. I grabbed my Sage fly rod and was off to one of the rivers. River flow was perfect, water temp was 48 at 9:00am. A nice caddis hatch came off the river starting around 2:00pm. Only saw one trout taking the caddis off th...

Some say just a heavy mon some say tieable wire is a must. Anyone here fish for pike with ...

Re: Help Identify This
And these caddis and their cousins that will be coming off the rivers shortly, B. Numerosus , live for up to 4 weeks. So its good to carry #14-18 dark caddis dries through late May in NJ. Also, when the water temps reach the upper 50's low 60's the grannoms will come back to the water in the evenin...

Nice job. Whenever I would use a spinner I go with the Blue Fox Vibrax lures. I have always done well with the copper color ones.

Some Nice Rainbows
Found two nice deep pools on Sunday that were holding a bunch of nice rainbows. Fish were all holding tight to the bottom, if your lure or fly wasn't down deep they wouldn't even look at it. https://i.imgur.com/RKebgCm.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/j8Vd3QB.jpg https://i.imgur.com/PcwWlJh.jpg https://i.i...

Re: Bass Topwater
You'll want something bigger than a 4 or 5 weight for pike and bass. I would go with at least a 7 or 8 weight for those two species. And remember wire or heavy mono bite tippets for the pike. I love bass fishing both on top and subsurface with a fly rod. I have a 9' 8wt that I use for Steelhead & s...

Re: Help Identify This
Can someone help identify what these insects are? They were all over the shoreline of the Delaware river on Sunday. I didn't notice them on the water but the covered the shoreline. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bh6nuBKn2di/?taken-by=njcatchrelease They are dark grannoms - caddisflies - Brachycentrus ...

Re: Bass Topwater
I grew up on a bass lake. I loved fishing off my parents' dock at night, listening to the "gurgle, gurgle, gurgle, gurgle" of a black, jointed Jitterbug making its way across the lake's surface. Right up until you hear the loud explosion of water as a bass pounds it, often missing it the first time...

Re: Bass Topwater
This long winter has me thinking of one thing; bass crushing topwater at night! One of my favorite ways to fish is for largemouth at night on topwater plugs! There is nothing better than the silence and darkness of night interrupted by the crashing sound of a big bass gulping down your lure at nigh...
