Re: Exploring an Afternoon on the Black River 2/5/2021
What is the wild trout situation like in Hacklebarny on the Black. My time is valuable at this state of my life, i try not waste it in put and take fisheries. last time i fished it like two years ago there was a few of small brownies most likely because they were pushed out of the tributaries. Go t...

Re: First trout of 2021...
pretty browns,
I fish WTSs with a friend sometimes, usually it's a turn-taking thing where one guy takes point, swap every time a fish is caught. But with 5 guys, idk how that'll be fun on a WTS

I thought it's the fly shops that do it. Supplement stockings funded by them and other orgs.

Re: Gearing Up for Fishing
cant you just break it down half way if it's too long for the car? Normally at home I like to sort out tackle and gear, then dump it in car. sometimes will even drive with my waders on. My vest will already have all Im gonna need for the day. Pull out a snack from the trunk (nature valley bars or po...

Re: "Free-riders"
i hardly see people to begin with  I think more people are keeping them off-display tho, none of my friends display it. It's no doubt there's a good % of anglers who just dont buy licenses. It seems easy to pull off; just dont fish anywhere popular. I think of the state actually cared and f...

Re: "State Open Waters"
In NJ, the landowner owns the bed of the stream and the banks, but the state owns the actual water and fish in it. So you can paddle through without touching bottom unless you find a tree across the river or a dam, and then you can exit your vessel for "reasonable portage" around said obstacle. But...

Re: Winter Trout, Anyone?
oddly some of my worst and best days are during mid of winter, usually always quality over quantity. Ive had some days tho where nothing seems to be alive nor biting in WTS that normally do good for quantity.

Re: nice stocker brown
yea i guess even wild trout could somehow have a snub fin if something bites it. The black dots connecting to the tail is a nice observation.

Re: nice stocker brown
mine was obvious by the pectoral fin, snubbed and worn out. You can see it in my pic. it's not hiding behind my fingers, that's actually how tiny it was. It's kind of surprising how these guys swim without the big pectoral fins; it might explain why this one was not in fast water. I also found by co...

Re: KLG question
"Haven't been to KLG in many many years but curious how its held up since the stocking ceased" They stopped stocking KLG? Im certain they only stopped stocking the new classified WTS stretch, down to Schooley's Mt Road. See the freshwater digest for example https://i.postimg.cc/5096KzRC/image.png If...

Re: Muddy Water
The myth of bad fishing in muddy water was created by Big Fly companies to get you to fish less and browse gear catalogs more often lol
