Re: Fall Stripers

They were dredging the area so it naturally was closed, I would prefer to not be there during that even when the fishing was fantastic. Lucky for me a very close friend works at the Hook and "helps" me with access when needed.

Re: Fall Stripers

They "reopened" my favorite spot at the Rip on Sandy Hook so I may make one more walk out. John where are you fishing?

Re: Fall Stripers

All depends on where I am at and the weather. Earlier in the week I was using a pencil bait and topwater. Wednesday was all on EliasV Shads in pearl white, 6" with 1.5ox jigheads.

Re: Fall Stripers

Last night was great top, long walk to the false tip of Sandy Hook. All 4 I got were over 10lbs and the one I kept was 32" and close to 15lbs. LONG WALK back with a fish that big.

Re: Fall Stripers

Fished Sandy Hook last night, this run of stripers is ridiculous. 30 of us side by side ripping keepers one after the other and 30 feet from shore!

Side note: only saw 1 guy keep a fish..... I regret not keeping the 10lb fish I caught on my last cast.

Fall stocking

Let me start by saying that it is EVERY licensed fisherman w a trout stamp to fish how they want and keep what they catch. Yesterday I took a trip tp Stevens State Park to wet a line (FINALLY had a day off to do this). There were no less than 5 people fishing the bridge in the same hole where the fi...

Re: Walleye tournament cheating scandal!

I have seen this in the BASS circuit I fished on years ago, they shove the weights down by hand and with other instruments. When a 14" largemouth weighs 2.5 pounds there is an issue....

Re: R.I.P. - Jim Holland

Very sad news, Jim was so helpful when I started my journey fly fishing giving me advice and hand picking flies for me. He will be missed by all who have stepped into the shop, even just one. Rest in peace Jim.

Re: Any New Toys Purchased or Waiting on Delivery?

Unfortunately my spending is halted on fishing equipment, rack in the shed is full and my sons getting married in September. ALL extra cash being saved for that!

Re: Musconetcong TCA - Penwell

I did not use a thermometer, but by feel, I would say 70 degrees Did you kill and eat the one you caught? Cause at 70+ degrees of water temp, you very likely killed it. Agreed..... go farther north to cooler waters or switch to another freshwater species. Personally salt water is the move from late...

Re: Shannon's sale on items over $100

Headed there next week now when I get back. Will buy a rod and reel. Better get there quick. I was there a couple of weeks ago, and was shocked how lacking of just about everything the store was. If I recall correctly there were maybe a half dozen fly rods. Tuesday....traveling for the weekend out ...

After my fall in 2021 at the Gorge, I made the purchase and am glad I did. Smart move Troutman, I am 2 years younger and it stunk to admit it was time.

Re: Gas prices $$$$$$$

beyond fishing less/closer to home, is anyone considering a different choice of vehicle? Not now, I traded in a 2017 C300 and Nissan Altima to buy a truck in January. Silly me w not foreseeing gas prices escalating. Luckily the beach is 10 minutes away and the fishing is prime at Sandy Hook. May ka...

Re: Gas prices $$$$$$$

Exactly why I am focusing on salt water now, it costs me so much to drive from Monmouth County to fish in western NJ.
