Good to see there are holdovers, nice catch. I should give it a try sometime, it's a fairly short ride for me.

Re: rod wear ?
If maintained and not kept out in the elements except when fishing I wouldn't worry about it. Plenty of 100+ year old greenheart and cane rods with a lot of mileage being regularly fished out there. My brother has a 30+ year old graphite rod he uses regularly. Tons of old Fenwick and Phillipson fibe...

The water was very clear. freestone stream was a :o to me in that type of urban area. No trash spewn about for a creek-stream to flow thru a basically urban area. But no fish was caugh...

Re: Big Flatbrook no kill zone
The entire river system was flowing heavy, went from 30 cfs to 1000 overnight down at the gauge. Too bad they couldn't have safely stocked it then, at 1000 cfs those fish would have spread way out. Would have made for even better holdover fishery. I don't think hatchery fish would have survived in ...

Well, as I stated in my previous post - "yet". Went out yesterday and the leaves were bad, gave up on a few runs as each cast was a leaf. In the end it worked out, caught few and lost a few.

Re: Big Flatbrook no kill zone
They dont stock that area as much as their is plenty of natural producing brook trout in that area. They usually throw more stockies down from the bridge into general regulation area. the brookies was probably hiding out from the limited stockies they did throw in there thou   Which bridg...

Re: DC and VCB
Above the village is better than below. That being said last time I was there the downfalls across the stream were really tough to deal with with. Sandy and other wind events took down a lot of the tall trees. It got real bad at one point and I turned around, that was the last time I was there. I do...

Re: DC and VCB
Haven't been to either in a few years. I stay away from DC during the prime hiking season, which is most of the year - LOL, and weekends. As for VCB I always parked at Millbrook Village and fished from there. The Glen is crowded with hikers and fisherman. Need to find a more secluded spot to park an...

Re: Alright, which one of you forgot to do a rain dance??
Looks like trout country is getting some decent rain. More importantly, it looks to be a steady rain over a few days which is better for soaking in compared to fast hitting storms that flash flows. Nope, rain is done in NJ trout country already and it doesn't look like there's any more coming when ...
